In another post, I said that I was going to take in another cat named Marlo....but things didn't work out. Marlo growled, attacked, scared my other cats, and ran around the house like a madman. In a way, he was funny to watch. He's a huge orange cat that has to weigh at least 15 pounds. He even scratched me. After a good half hour, I finally got Marlo back in his carrier, and called to have him picked up. Marlo lived for 9 years with his original owner. Recently, his owner was injured in a motorcycle accident and had to have a kidney transplant. The doctors said that the owner had to give Marlo up. So the guy's friends tried to help by finding Marlo a new home. I feel sorry for Marlo and his owner. One thing is for sure, the guy's friend vowed that Marlo will never be taken to a shelter.

I'm sorry. Poor Marlo. He sounds like he is really upset and confused by what's happening to him. I wish him good luck in finding a new home. Maybe he would do better as an only cat.

I think so too. I also think that Marlo was the only cat for 9 years and just entering a multicat household upset him the most. Anyway, he is going to be taken to the original owner's friend, who lives nearby. That friend will be able to let the owner see and visit Marlo again. This arrangement should have happened in the first place. Marlo would never have had to been transported in a tiny carrier and be forced to sit in it for two hours. Plus, he would have been happier. His presence would have greatly comforted his original owner, who is not expected to survive the kidney transplant. I feel sorry for them both.

Perhaps you didn't give Marlo enough time to become accustomed to his new home. He was obviously stressed and perhaps missing his original owner. I've taken in cats that have taken up to 6 months to become acclimated with the other animals in my home. They DO adjust with time and patience.

That's probably true, as I have seen by taking in Mimi. She's a lot better now than she was a year ago, but has a ways to go before she's fully acclimated. But my situation is much different now. Mimi at least had her own room and closet to hide in. Marlo would have had nowhere to hide and territory to call his own, and this issue concerned me from the get-go, but I foolishly agreed to take the cat. From the way things were going, it wss clear that Marlo was used to being the only cat in a household. Every cat's personality is different. However, this story will have a happy ending. Seems that the owner's other friend wanted Marlo and agreed to take him. Even better, the original owner will still be able to see Marlo. It was a win-win situation all around and Marlo will be happy again.
