What's the best way to clean a....

What's the best way to clean a SERIOUSLY dirty bathroom? We are talking soap scum, limescale, doghair, and just lots of use. Different techniques and cleaning agents suggestions woudl be appreciated. Also since I only get over to my friend's house to clean once a month for her, what is the best way to keep it from building up? Any sort of gunk-repelling agents?

try mr clean bleach pads or CLR, both work REALLY good.

Can they be used together (i.e. CLR and then pads directly afterward) or do I need to rinse between them?

I use Bleach or Pinesol. Ajax, Comet cleanser
