When posting I found some members have got a star of a certain color before their username. When I move the mouse on it, It shows Mylot reputation of XX/100. What does that stand for? And how can I have a star before my username? And How can I improve my reputation? Thank you for sharing your own knowledge.

Oh wow... I hope that I don't get a lot of minus signs. Can a minus sign be given on comments on posts too?

Actually, yes. If you look under every comment posted you see three symbols. One is the plus ("+") that represents that the answer was good and constructive, then it's the minus ("-") which you choose when the answer was short or maybe off topic, and finally there's the exclamation mark ("!") which is the button for abuse, meaning that you use it to report and offensive post, spam or other comments like this. Every user on mylot can choose which one to use to grade discussions and comments\answers to that discussion.

I've only been around here for a couple weeks, but I think I know the basics of the star reputations. If someone who's been around longer comes in they might know more (or correct any inaccuracies). Once you get (100) posts after your name your star appears. The star represents how people rate your discussions and comments and such, I believe. So like when you hover over the star and it says something like 90/100 I think that's the percentage of + ratings you have gotten.

Hi there. The reputation score represents the way you are seen by other MyLot members. If you answer to a discussion in a certain field other users can rate your answer with a + or a - depending on the quality of your answer. Everyone has a grade between 1-10 that shows their overall rating. You too will see your rating once you get to 100 posts (you have little to go :) ). This depends on how other users viewed your activity here on MyLot. If you made a good impression, your grade will be high, if you were rated a lot of "-" then you will get a low grade. However, the reputation is always changing because people rate discussions, so one day you could be 9, and the next you could get to 10. I hope this helped you. If you have other questions just ask away ^_^
