Do all your windows have curtains?

One time my sister said I changed curtains like some people change their bed sheets. I guess she was right, I love curtains. I really like making my own. About a year ago I took them all down, washed them and put them away. I only have mini blinds for the time being now. I did go back and hang a valence over my living room window. Although I love curtains. I just hate the way they collect dust. One day I'll pull my curtains out and hang them again, or make some new one.

None of my windows have curtains. I live in a house full of blinds. Come to think of it, I only hae two windows, and since I'm in the basement, I don't have a view anyway. They're not even at ground level. If it gets to bright in there (not likely!!) I have blinds that I can shut, if I need to.

I like my mini-blinds, even when I do put curtains up I want my blinds up there. Most of my curtains are for ornamentation when I do put them up. I need the blinds if I think I need privacy.

not all of our windows have curtains. just the window in the living room, the window in my grandma's room, & the window in my parent's room. i think my mom washes them, if i'm not mistaken, once every two weeks. yes, they are dust catchers. but my mom doesn't like window blinds so we stick with the curtains.

That's where I fall short, I don't want to take them down and wash them regular, so I don't. I have to go along and knock the cob-webs off and the dust. I'm surprized at how many people don't have curtains up.

At the moment, I have a combination of miniblinds and curtains (left by the previous owners of my house). My intent is to get rid of all the slated miniblinds because, for me, they are huge dust collectors that are hard/finickity to clean. And I have found no way to acutally remove all the dust from them. I will be putting up roller blinds on windows that need the added light blockage and I will be putting up curtains (machine washable, of course) on all of the windows. When I get around to it. Someday. Hopefully, soon.

You are right about the miniblinds being a dust catcher. For some reason the curtains catching dust bother me more. Sometimes I take the hose attachment on my vacuum cleaner and go over the blinds. Hmmm, maybe I need draw curtains.

I usually make my own curtains. As for how often i change them it is a notional thing. If i get up in the mood i can sew all day but if i'm not in the mood i will mess up everything i try to do!

I still can't get over that you sew. Don't misunderstand. All I've known of you; is you had to work. You were always working. Cooking I knew you loved. I know you can cook good. When I came to your house and saw the way you sewed and dressed up that ottoman I was so surprized. Not because I didn't think you could. It was just a side I had never been aware of. When I thought of you back then, I thought of your aunt Kathryn, you just worked all the time. Did you learn it from granny? I did.

I did learn from Granny, I enjoy it. Last summer i made several little dresses for Madaline. I actually made Fall festival costumes for Johni and Michelle when they were young and both won first place in their age group! Wasn't you still in brantley the year i made all the christmas play costumes? I thought you knew i dabbled around playing with the sewing machine.

All the windows in the front of my house have curtains (except the basement windows), but none of the ones in the back have them. In the back of the house I have blinds to keep out the heat in the summer, but other than that we don't close them because there are no houses back there. My kids rooms have curtains and blinds since they think that in the summer it's too early to go to bed if it's light out.

I have mini blinds everywhere except at my sliding doors in the back of the house. It faces the woods so I take it for granted no one in skulking around back there. If there is, the only thing they will see is someone watching tv or scratching their butt lol.

Curtains are so beautiful! I have blinds on almost all my windows but I'm planning on adding curtains to every room as it eliminates the need to paint due to the light refraction. My daughters bought these beautiful pink curtains with their leftover birthday money so I'm planning on laundering them, adding a few accents, and hanging them up this week. Once school is out I plan on making my own curtains with some leftover fabric I have from upholstering my own chairs :)Doing things yourself just feels more rewarding, doesn't it. I love being frugal :)

Yes, doing things yourself really gives us a sence of accomplishment. I made curtains for my kitchen and den (because they're across from each other) I love the red-checkered look. I have made these types of curtains for two of my homes, they have the ruffle and tie-backs and everything. Right now they're in a suitcase where I store my curtains when I'm not using them. I re-upholstered a chair one time too. Messed up my sewing machine, but the chair really looked good. I guess people would call us 'Little Miss Suzie Homemaker' lol
