Today my 11 year old daughter was invited to her friends little sister's first birthday party. It made me think about how early people give parties.I gave all my kids first birthday parties. But,my son did not give his daughter one.How old were your kids when you gave them their first birthday party?

My son was a year old when he had his first party. He had several parties after that, not every year though. He at least had ice cream and cake and his parents, grandparents there.

I guess it depends on what you class as a party - whether it be inviting friends around or just a family thing? My daughter had a family party at my parent's house for her first birthday, it wasn't big but there was still food, decorations, cake & everything you have with a party - except the games of course! My daughter will be 2 in a few days & we're doing something very similar to last year but it'll be here at home, the families will visit & we'll put on a BBQ for dinner - along with some finger foods for lunch & nice cakes etc for afternoon tea. It wont be a big fancy event (those can wait until she's at school & inviting her friends etc) but it will be a nice event with family & something that she can enjoy. Her party/event will be the day after her birthday as we're spending the 'actual' day as a family (just my partner, our daughter & myself) going to the zoo. Something a little more quiet but that she'll enjoy!
