Paul Wilson? His books about Repairman Jack are some of the best action books around. Jim Buthcher writes abut Harry Dresend, Wizard for Hire. Nora Roberts writes about a woman Detective set fifty years from now by the name of Eve Dallas. Don't let the fact that she's a woman fool you. She is a lot toughfer then some men I've read about.

You might want to try Dan Brown books. Particularly "Digital Fortress" and " Angels and Demons" They are breath taking! If you like past paced action, intrigues and surprising twists, I would highly recommend these books.
