To Play or Not to Play?

We have an Xbox 360 and my husband loves to play it; but even more than that he loves for me to play with him. I will play Rock Band with him sometimes and I have even tried Call of Duty 4. I prefer puzzle games though; like Zuma and Luxor 2. My husband's friends at work are jealous that it doesn't bother me when he plays his games. Sometimes I even encourage him to play. We spent the money to get the thing, it would be a waste if he never touched it. Does it bother you when your significant other plays video games? Do you play video games with your husband/boyfriend/partner (or wife/girlfriend/partner)?

Oooh, I mess him up too! He laughs, it is all in good fun. He does the same thing to me. We are also pretty competitive but not anything serious.

Thank goodness I don't have to deal with a partner or spouse being bothered with my gaming. If you want to play with him GC then go for it. In fact playing with a gaming spouse can help with bonding. Plus its fun to game.

I love video games. I used to play them alot with my ex but now I don't play them often. I have no beef with video games, I think they are a blast.

No, it never bothers me when my boyfriend plays video games. I bought him the Playstation 3 for Christmas, and the reason I bought it was because I knew he really wanted it. I wouldn't have bought it if it bothered me that much. He loves to play Call of Duty 4, online with his friends from NY, that way he can communicate with them and what not. Sometimes I encourage him to play his games too, because I enjoy watching him play. Most of the games he plays are RPG (role playing games), and I like to watch cause they are basically a story that you create on your own. I say let your husband's friends be jealous, they should be! I don't play video games with my boyfriend very often, because I'm just not very good at the kinds he likes. I prefer the Sims 2 for PC. I do however, go with him and play handball, and he loves that I do that with him.

We went back and forth about which system to get. We decided on the 360 because it was less expensive, most of our friends and family are on Xbox live and because the selection of games for both of us on the Xbox. It is fun. He does want the blu-ray but he can wait a little while longer on that.

This is a really good discussion because I think video games are really important in peoples lives because they are a good source of entertainment especially since there are so many different types of games out in the world today, and they are also a good way to pass the time when you are either bored,or you have nothing to do but sit around and twiddle your thumbs, and if it is one of those days where it is snowing and cold outside,or rainy and wet outside, and you do not want to do anything but sit around the house all day, because they can definitely make the time go by faster which is a really good thing if you ask me,and I am sure there are people out there who play video games a lot,and that there favorite hobby is to play video games, and then I am sure there are people who probably either hate video games,or do not spend much time playing them because they think they are trash, and all they do is cause kids to become hateful and violent, which I think is totally untrue since most of those people have never played a video game before, and it is not right to judge something unless you have tried it,because only by trying it can you find out what it is really like, and then I am sure there are probably men and women who do not like their partner playing video games, and prefer them to not ever play or else they get mad at them, and then I am sure there are men and women who like their partner playing video games, and even encourage them to play video games, and I can understand why people would or would not want their partner to play video games, that is cool that you have an X-box 360 and that your husband loves to play it,and that he loves you playing it with him,and that is awesome that you play Rock Band with him sometimes and that you have even tried Call of Duty 4,and that is cool that you prefer puzzle games like Zuma and Luxor 2,and I bet your husbands friends at work are jealous that it does not bother you when he plays video games, and that you even encourage him to play, and that is true you spent the money to get the thing, and it would be a waste if he never touched it,I consider myself lucky because both me and my fiance like video games, even though I am more addicted to them then she is,and right now we have a Nintendo Game Cube,a Nintendo 64,and X-box,and an Halo 3 Edition X-box 360 that we bought a couple months ago from Wal Mart.com and I am very happy with it because it is what I wanted,it does not bother my fiance when I play video games and when we first started dating and she moved in with me,I stopped playing games to spend all my time with her,and she had to talk me into playing video games again and I am glad she did, even though I love her,and I would gladly give up video games for her ,and I mostly like games that are war games like the Ghost Recon games, the Rainbow Six games, and the Halo games, and then I like stealth games like the Splinter Cell games, and the main reason I wanted the X-box 360 was because of Halo 3 and Splinter Cell Conviction and right now we have Halo 3 since Conviction does not come out until February of next year, and my fiance got me Rainbow Six Vegas for Christmas because she knows I like video games a lot,and she wants to get a Wii sometime so we are going to save for it,and right now she plays the Game Cube even though we both play games like Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64,and I got her the Sims 2 for the Game Cube, because she likes role playing games, and it does not bother me that she plays video games, and I like watching her play the Sims because it is a lot of fun to watch what the characters do,and we sometimes play games together like we play Mario Kart 64 on the Nintendo 64 together which is a lot of fun,and we are trying to get more video games even though we are mostly planning for and saving for our wedding which is set for September of next year, and we are both excited, and can not wait until that day.

In the past, I have greatly enjoyed playing games with my girlfriends. It's a fun activity that we both enjoyed and we found a balance between playing and spending some alone time together. They may not have been fans of things like first person shooters or single-player games all that much, but we had fun with simple games like Tetris, Karaoke Revolution, and even some Guitar Hero. However, if you or they begin to spend more time gaming than with each other, you/they may need to evaluate where your/their time is being spent.
