Cold Weather in MAY?!?

United States

So, I'm a native Texan. I'm also in the military. I am stationed in Florida currently, but my squadron has sent me on a "deployment" to New York. When I left Florida for New York it was 85 degrees out, and has gotten warmer since I left! As we made our final approach to the airport in New York the pilot announced the weather: "...it's in the upper thirties on the ground; low forties if you're lucky..." So, there I sit in shorts and a T-shirt thinking "Oh God...." - insult to injury, it was raining. Cold rain. The weather is just now warming back up towards the seventies, so that's a relief - but it's still not 100 degrees... Growing up in Texas, I'm used to 100 degree weather in May! What about all you myLotters? How is the weather treating all of you? Ready for summer to hit full-force? Done with summer already? Or maybe you're a mix: enjoying summer but still kind of missing winter or fall....?

Wow, I am guessing maybe you are more in upstate NY? It has been in 70s and 80s the last few days in NJ, though the nights are a little chilly outside, it is nice with the windows open. Great weather aside from the days it was very humid. I grew up in NJ, but went to college in FL (Miami). I had moved down there after college, not realizing how absoulutely brutal the summers are. I made it about 5 more years after college, before deciding to come back to NJ. The weather wasn't the main factor, but since I've been back, I realize I do like seasons. Though when I am shoveling snow in the winter, I do sometimes miss FL! :)

DallasFan_ Let me welcome you to NY as well. I lived in Florida for 23 years. I hated it. I love the NY weather, so unpredictable, just like me!

Thanks! Was it too hot and humid for you? If so, I totally understand! I enjoy Florida weather a lot, but the humidity is a huge downfall! I prefer my dry Texas heat. I appreciate the response!

Welcome to NY...lol. NY will you give you the seasons full force. Aside from the rain, this is my favorite season. It's not too hot in the daytime and good sleeping weather at night. No snow to shovel anymore. Not too many mosquitoes. Life is good. It will get hot soon enough.

I appreciate the welcome! You're right, the weather we've had (central NY) the past few days has been quite enjoyable, to say the least! Although we had rain today, lately it's been very pleasant! Nice touch about "sleeping weather" - that's for sure!!
