Life is full of trade-offs

Our needs and wants are insatiable. Sometimes the boundary between our wants and needs becomes so blurred you get confused already which one is which. More often, we give up one need in favor of what we want. It's really complicated! More recently, I have experienced another trade-off in the economics of life. I gave up playing badminton so that I could divert my money into something else more important. I loved playing badminton because it burns a lot of calories. But then I realized I could burn the same amount of calories just by walking around my subdivision, thereby saving me a lot of money in a month. So I gave up this favorite sport, the money then went to my savings and for credit card payments. I would like to think I made the right decision. Would you agree? Do you also have trade-offs in your life. Maybe you would like to share...

Life full of trade offs, Yes you made the right decision. I'm in the same boat as with many, many others. with two children my self, married for 22 years. My wife decided we should travel now when the kids are in there teens and not latter. We took a cruise to Mexico for 4 days, then rented a R/V and went across the states for three weeks last summer. Was it fun sure, Was it worth It? Not Sure It all went on a credit card that where paying dearly for now. P.S some of us don't use there right judgments. Wish I could have found this site last year

I think you made a good decision for the most part. I've always felt that needs come before wants 100%. I was all about working hard, saving bunches of money, and hardly any play at all. I always made sure that everything I needed was taken care of first before splurging on something I wanted. I felt so even more when my two kids were born. But as the days go by, and I watch them grow before my eyes, I start to realize just how short life really is. Before we know it, life will be over, and I do not want to have any regrets. More and more I'm beginning to not worry so much, and try to have more fun and do the things I love because I might not get another chance. So while I can agree that paying off credit cards would be pretty important, sacrificing something you really love, probably isn't going to make you happy in the long run.

Thanks for you words of wisdom. Well, in that case, I will just have to shift my paradigms - the benefits of playing badminton vs saving money. Or I could negotiate, like play badminton at least once a month. Oh, it's really hard when you have limited resources but with unlimited needs. Good luck with you too.

I agree that life is full of trade-offs. You see, we can't have everything in this world. Sometimes, to get one, we have to sacrifice another. It pays off to be very careful in the choices that we make. Good luck to the choices you make!
