My 8 year old son is driving me crazy! I swear every time the boy poops he forgets to flush the toilet. What is do hard about remembering to flush a toilet? Anyone else have a similar problem in their house? What did you or do you do about it?

i feel another thing .the reward technique may work with him. start discussing the matter with him one to one and tell him if he behaves well , i mean does the right thing he may be treated with dinner at mcdonalds or something he really relishes may be even an ice cream , a shake or something of his choice.try it out. it may work well

Uh, yeah, but it is gross. Especially when he uses the downstairs toilet and I don't find it till morning.

kids playing on monky bars. - I found this and thought it was a great picture and wanted to share.
I had that problem with my kids doing that,I found it better to teach them why it was important to flush and then put a pair of rubber gloves on them and have them clean the toilet and tell me why they were cleaning the toilet. It worked for me they didn't eant to do that again it was nasty to them.I think you sometimes have to show them how hard and easy things can be in a whole picture like by not flushing makes the toilet dirtier and you have to clean it.Hope this helps Havee a great day.

That is not a half bad idea. I just might have to try that one next time he does it.

i think you should have him help you every time you clean the bathroom or your house so that he would understand the sense of responsibility. you should also explain to him in a simple manner how dirty places or things can make him, you or his daddy sick (which i think a child doesn't want to happen). i also observed that kids like it when they are being appreciated so every time he flushes the toilet or does something good, don't forget to praise him. by that, he will learn to enjoy what he does 'coz he is making you happy. kids always like to please their parents.

i agree. kids usually worship their parents when they are young. they would do anything to please their parents and receive their praises! as a parent, you just have to set a good example for them and always talk and explain things to them and why they should do their responsibility, sometimes they just don't understand the reason behind it that's why they don't follow you.

Always try to remind him to flush... perhaps give him a treat for flushing often... kids will be kids, you know.....
