you know, i was just reading a discussion about not getting any responses to your discussions. i have one that has none and a few others that only have a few responses. the only one that has multiple responses is one about mylot itself. i've tried to start discussions about things that meant something to me, and hoping to read other people's thoughts and insights. it seems that a sure-fire way to get responses to a discussion is to make it about mylot. what do you think? do people tend toward mylot discussions because they are safe? do people not want to respond to other discussions because they're afraid to offend or something like that?

Certainly safety is an issue for MyLotters. Some people are concerned that a discussion will get deleted so they only post at the "safe" discussions and avoid controversial topics. You have posted an excellent discussion. You asked a question in your title, so it made clear to anyone that this would be a good topic. Others just want something that doesn't require brain work. Best of luck! Be well.

I think people respond to discussions that they know something about and as we are all members of mylot then we all know something about mylot, whereas we might not know things about depression, social work or statistics etc, so people don't reply to them.

A good way of increasing the number of responses to your discussions is to have an active and extensive friends list. Most of us respond to our friends discussions first, only if we have time do we reach out into wider mylot. Secondly, become active, respond regularly and launch more discussions, people like to respond to names they see a lot of blessed be

There are definitely topics that I get more response than others. Times of the day that I post seem to make a difference sometimes too. I don't usually have much luck in the Life catagory. It can be pretty hit or miss around here. I have discussions with only a couple of responses as well. I think a lot of people do. I try to go and answer discussions with no responses quite a bit actually.

hi. I usually post discussions that I can relate to or one that I need some advice on. If I have an idea about Mylot, I'd post it, not to be safe but these past few days, the posts are about what I have read and my own questions. For me, its not that i'm scared that i may offend others with my response, some topics I really can't relate and some that simply doesn't interest me. I browse the no responses hoping i can respond on some of them and ease the sad feeling of having not even a single reply.

I don't know about that. I respond to anything that interests me. I know some people get a lot of responses because they have friends that respond to their discussions. Also, we are on mylot so a lot of folks would probably be interested in that topic. However, I doubt most people would respond just because it is in that interest as most folks have a lot of interests.

You may have something there. I have often wondered what it would take to get a lot of responses to a discussion. There are only two discussions that I have got a lot of responses to and it surprised me. So I would be willing to listen if anyone has a way to get more than a few responses to a discussion because I sure haven't found the answer.
