Not giving up because pain keeps you alive?

"Love can become really painful but despite all the pain you just couldn't give up... because the pain is what's keeping you alive..."-drsparkle314 This is a quotation I've made after I watched the movie about the 9/11 incident... yep the World Trade Center... there was one scene there wherein one of the main characters uttered "pain is good... pain keeps you alive..." and after thinking about it I related it to relationships... some of us cannot give up loving someone despite all the pain they cause us... (may I remind everyone that this is not about physical pain such as those experienced by battered wives... this is more of the emotional pain we experience while we are in love with someone...) what are your views abut this? do we share the same story?
