I remember going to the Redwoods near Richardsons Grove and overpacks grove as a child and visiting the Ranger station's campfire prigram. I remember the song that was sung then, "I love the mountains, I love the rolling hills, I love the flowers, I love the daffodills, I love the campfire, when the lights are low, boom de olla, boom de olla, boom de olla boom, boom." Sometimes the rangers would show us real snakes and other things ...
It was great to be around the campfire...
I remember other times too of being near the campfire for a young adult group retreat and singing songs, cooking marshmallows and making somores together and also being around a campfire in the desert on a camping trip and also being around the campfire before and after going into a sweat lodge...
What are your memories of campfires?
Please share them with us?

At camp one year we caught fish in the creek ith our hands then wrapped them in foil and baked them in the camp fire was great tasting.
Another time just with friends went camping and we cooked most of the dinner in the fire and we had marshmellows and hot dogs also.
I like hotdogs roasted over sage brush gicve a very good flavor.
Other camp fires was when we had gone deerhunting or the night before the hunt

That was really awesome. I would always love to do that when I do go back camping and hiking. I love to bring cookout supply with me. That is great catching fish with your bare hands and wrapping them in foil and baking it on the campfire. That will be great. Right? I always love to fish during camp times as well.

My camping experiences are so limited, I only have one story. A few months ago I camped out for the first time with a friend of mine.
We set up our campfire and she grilled her hamburgers and I grilled my veggie burgers. The campfire warmed our faces and kept our campsite cozy. It was kind of a let down actually, except for what happened after we closed up the tent for the night. We heard something crashing near the bushes and coming right up to our tent.
Terrified as we were, we wished our campfire was still lit. We tried to peer out using a flashlight, but we never found out what stalked us that night.

It looks pretty good... It sounds like it was a spooky experience... How did that veggie burger turn out... I can remember some of the ones that I have tasted wound up having the look of hocky pucks after they were cooked by my brother-in-law on his grill.

I am glad that you guys are great about remembering your trip out into the mountains to have a peaceful campfire. And I see that you have lots of great memories about your great times at camp. I would really love to do that someday in one of my favorite spots in my favorite town. At first I would start of in the early sunny morning, getting through traffic and finally hitting the trail to hike on. At last, I have to cross the railroad tracks to get to my favorite spot; along a canal. I would bring some supply of cookout stuff, a spray that will ward off bugs and insects, a large tent, a scanner/radio, cell phone, and a sleeping bag. Right? I love to see lots of trees and bushes as well.
