Your own Chicken Fingers or Nuggets? I just did for the second time.... It is a special recipe for my Son who needs a special diet... I had to cut up the chicken into the shape and size I wanted it and then mix together some crushed up cereal, special flour and sea salt...all shook up in a large ziploc bag....Then in a bowl I mixed a couple eggs and my son's special rice milk. I dredged the chicken pieces in the milk and then dumped them into the bag where I shook them and then cooked them in Sunflower oil in my electric frying pan..... They are so delicious, my husband even liked them last time and more importantly my boy! :) It is a family favorite now! A lot of extra work but worth it as my son just loves chicken fingers! At least I know what is in these ones! I made a huge batch this time and am going to freeze them so that when I am at work My Hubby can just pull some out and heat them in the oven and they will be good to go! So, have you ever attempted anything like this? Experimented with different things in the kitchen? Was it delicious or a flop? Please do share and .... Happy Cooking All!!!! ~Heavens~

They sound great pal and a lot healthier too , I was told a new thing today and I am going to try it , Break up fresh cauliflower into small bits , sprinkle with oil and roast in a hot oven , it is supposed to come out like pop corn , let it go a bit brown , It could be popped in the oven with other things :) xx

Yes! They're so much better than the processed ones you get from the store, too! Mine aren't nearly as complicated as yours are, but they're pretty tasty. We take chicken, cut it into strips, egg them, and then dip them in seasoned bread crumbs before frying them. It's easy, but they're great, especially with homemade honey mustard. I experiment a fair bit in the kitchen, and I, luckily, have a partner who grabs my hand before I add 1/4 c of salt when something really only needs 1/4 tsp. We haven't had any true flops, and we've had tons of delicious stuff come out of our experimentation.

They certainly are better! I have to make sure that mine are gluten free and casein free so I have to use special ingredients but still fairly simple and they are sooooooo tasty! I've often experimented in the kitchen with other dishes and usually they turn out to be our most favorite to eat! I seem to have a knack for that type of thing I guess! ~Heavens~

Heavens I have never made my own chicken nuggets but I can see the benefits of doing so! I wish I were fit I would make a huge batch and freeze them just like you and I know my family would love them! I think I might just try and talk the other half into making them soon - thanks for the suggestion! xxx

I use to make my own chicken fingers all the time. I haven't in a while, but they sound good so maybe I'll have to put it on my grocery list. I take the chicken and cut it into strips. then I dip the chicken in hot sauce and then in flour. I then fry them chicken strips. they come out great if you like spicey. We dip them in blue cheese.

I have not tried this before, but it sounds yummy! I will try this soon and see if my daughter takes to them. She loves chicken, anything with chicken. Especially if it's chicken fingers. I would prefer to make them at home because I know what is going into them! Thanks for posting this. Be well.

Ok let me start with I love good food. You know some people have goals to travel to every state in the US or several different countries. I too have that goal, but with a twist, in each state I visit I want to try a food they are known for. Such as Georgia Peaches (hell i don't really like peaches, but I figure I will try the best) and so on. Ok fact number 2, I love chicken, matter of fact I just bought a bunch of chicken today when I was shopping. I have not tried this before, but you can bet that I will now with some of the chicken I got today. and just in advance since I am sure it will be very good, so I thank you.

You are very welcome lizardgod! I am so glad that I have given you a new idea for dinner and you truly can cook up a bunch and then freeze them! My husband just took them out of the freezer and put them on a baking sheet and popped them in the oven and he said they heated nice and both he and my son enjoyed them a second time this way! (I was at work the night they had them) ENJOY! ~Heavens~

We dont buy any heat and eat sort of stuff (the premade frozen foods) I usually make my own. Its cheaper to begin with, and always tastes so much better. I usually make my fingers/nuggets similar to how you made yours. I usually use corn flakes but every once in awhile I will use chex. That is pretty good as well. I like to make a lot of things and throw them in the freezer so that hubby can use them for the kids when Im gone. He likes it to of course. HAHA My kids and husband perfer homemade spaghetti to the store baught kind. Which is fine by me, it is SOOO much cheaper and I make TONS when I make it so there is a lot to store in the freezer.

That's exactly what I did with the chicken so that my Hubby would have it when I was at work! Great minds think alike! I used Rice Crispies as there are few cereals my son can have due to Gluten...I think though that he can have Chex...I'll have to read the label and if he can, I may try that one! How do you make your own pasta? Thanks so much for your response here! ~Heavens~

I've never made homemade chicken fingers myself but a friend of mine makes them on a regular basis. His are always moist on the inside and crispy/delicious on the outside. What he does first before cutting the chicken into finger slices is soak the chicken in water to remove whatever "freshner" has been used to extend its shelf life. It definitely makes a difference in the flavour and moisture of the finished product.
