NYC restaurant offers $175 burger topped with gold

A Manhattan restaurant is offering a burger topped with gold flakes and served with truffles for $175. I can't imagine paying that much for a burger....unless it was going to satisfy my hunger for the next month or so.
And who is actually purchasing these things?

I'd skip all the gold just for a big beefy burger with mayo ketchup, letuce pickles and onions....:P

My ideal burger is cooked medium with cheese, mustard, lettuce, tomato and pickle. And darn now I'm real hungry!!!

Does gold taste good?! I can't imagine why anyone would want to eat gold, what a strange idea. $175 is about the equivalent of £90, which would easily feed myself and my partner for a month of home-cooked food. The thought of spending that on one meal is insane!
I too, would really like to meet someone who's eaten one of these burgers. Mainly to see if they're still alive after eating gold!

Yeah eating gold in moderation is safe. I have also heard of gold flake cakes and also an ice cream sunday with gold flakes as well.
Not too long ago I posted a thread about people who are getting facials that cover their face in gold flakes.
