I have had three cats during my life and I adored each of them so recently at a local garage sale I picked up two wooden cats, I got them for $5, I thought they were so cute. Last week I decided to decorate what I call my retreat, so i put my two wooden cats in a nice little corner. When I went shopping the next day outside of a shop was a wooden cat on special so I thought I have to have that to make up my three cats display, so now each beautiful cats that have shared my life have their own little memorial...does anyone else do things like this for their pets or am I strange...

I don't think it's strange at all. I think it's a really good idea. A memorial to something that you really loved and miss. Not a bad idea at all my friend.

If you're strange so am I . I have a little garden figurine of a little furry dog. It's dirty grey in colour and I've painted his nose black and the eyes too. He sits at my front door, waiting for me. It is so like my beautiful, little playmate Pixie, a Maltese Silky cross. Pixie came into my life at a special time as a puppy and we went through lots together. I loved her dearly and miss her still.

Personally I don't think you are starnge at all. Of course I do things like this too. When I lost my precious poodle my daughter put a beautiful memorial togather for hi. She gave me one of her favorite knick-knacks a flower with butterflies on it. She put a candle and a picture of him with a few others things. I also have angels around the house that are in memory of loved ones that are gone, my father, grandbaby, grandfather, and my babies,(pets) that are gone. I also have Boxer's scarfs hanging on one of the four post of my bed. I reach up often and hold them.

Awww--those statues are so sweet. I haven't done them for all my past kitties but one way I started a tribute thing was to do this. You know those wooden plaque things one can get that usually have some photo and inspirational or silly sayings on them..the kind you hang up? Well I've recycled my old ones that I didn't want anymore, and took off the old photo/saying by soaking it off for awhile, then let it dry. I then would have a print photo of one of my former kitties and glue that onto the wooden part, then handpainted the day I got that particular cat, and the day the cat went to "Rainbow Bridge"--so nope, you're not the only one who does some kind of tribute to a fur baby that is no longer among us.
