It is rainy here today and I have so much I need to get into my garden that I am seriously considering planting in the rain. Do you garden in the rain?

No, I never garden in the rain. I have to agree with one of my gardening books which says to never walk in the garden when the soil's wet. Walking on wet soil compacts the ground too much and then the plants won't grow as well. I don't know about your area, but with the clay soil that is native to my area, we have to aerate it, because of it's compacted soil. Also I've read that it is damaging to the leaves to be handling them when they're wet. So for me gardening in the rain would be counter-productive. Maybe it would work on sandy soil, but I know for sure that it doesn't work here with clay soils.

I lived in the Willamite Valley in Oregon, and it rains there 4 month fo the year. Not always a downpour but if you want a good garden or flower bed you have to go out on some of those days and just bite the bullet! LOL It's the 2nd largest produce valley in the USA and it's bueatiful! The best part is produce there is cheap and you can grow just about anything there, I learned of veggies I've never heard of. Like Marion berries, I'd never heard of them til I moved there! Just go for it!!!!! tdemex
