Have you ever had skin cancer?

I have a friend who has had melanoma twice now. The first time she was very young, and this time she was in her 50s. She has been in remission for a few years now and we are hopeful that it won't come back again. I've also had some skin cancer in my family, but thankfully not a whole lot. Do you have a lot of it in your family? Have you had skin cancer yourself? I did an interview with my friend about her skin cancer. You can read it at the link below if you want. http://www.healthmad.com/Conditions-and-Diseases/Melanoma-A-Survivors-Story.128153

Hello sunnflr. I have heard about melanoma. I've heard it can be deadly if not identified early and treatment begun right away. It sounds like your friend is doing a wonderful job educating others while telling her story. I read your article on healthmad and found it to be very informative. Thanks for sharing. Pearl Grace

Thank you for reading the article. Yes, she does everything she can to educate others on the dangers of getting too much sun, and keeping check of any moles you have.

My mother had a melanoma removed last year and I should really get myself checked out because I used to spend a lot of time in the sun. I haven't noticed anything weird on my skin but seeing the doctor for that is one of the many things on my list...that I put off.

Yes, we should all do self checks once every few months at least. Then if we see something suspicious we should go to the dermatologist.
