Why do some toddlers wake up crying for no apparent reason? Is this just a stage?

My daughter is 2 1/2 and most of the time after taking a nap she will wake up and start crying very loud. Today I asked her why are you crying and she said I don't know and she cried for about 5 minutes then she was fine. I offered her food, toys, a hug, nothing worked. She just kept crying it seemed like it was for no reason. She is going through a cry baby whining stage and it is really getting on my nerves. If I am the cause of all this crying I want to know what I'm doing wrong so I can get her to stop all the whining and crying. I can't stand it.

Maybe she dreams of scary things and she can't even explain it or maybe she haven't enough sleep. Some children really cries when their sleep was interrupted or just they just woke up and can't get their sleep again.Maybe she's hungry and can't tell exactly what she likes. In this stage, let just the child cries and never give him anything while crying, especially food because she might be choke, never give him toys because she might throw it away. Give your child a time to cry and just talk to her when she stopped crying, ask her what happen why she cries and then ask her what she wants afterwards and talk to her softly. Some times a child get more irritated without any reasons because they can't hardly explain their selves, what do they want. Just let them express what they feel.

I think most of us get upset when we wake up... since sleeping is kind of a peaceful activity... my baby usually cries when she wakes up... and it is the hardest when she finds that i am not lying on the bed with her... but there are also times when she doesn't cry at all... she would wake up and start playing with her toys... and most of the time she would wake me up with kisses and hugs...

I love those times when she wakes up with hugs and kisses and not crying. I think it's just a stage that she will outgrow hopefully soon.
