Have you ever gotten sick from Chinese take-out with seafood or crab?

I love shrimp and crab in my Chinese take-out, but I worry about the freshness of it all. I'm worried that I'll get sick from the sea food in the Chinese. I'm not sure what type of safety measures they use. Have you ever gotten sick from seafood that was in your Chinese? Do you think there's a bigger risk of getting sick from the seafood if it's been sitting on the buffet for a couple hours? How can you tell if it's fresh made?

I have never gotten sick from seafood at a Chinese place. The only seafood that I normally get though is in the crab rangoon though.

I got sick once. But, it was mostly because I was having Chinese food on the same day we were painting the house and the combined smells really made my stomach feel queezy like morning sickness. That was not nice!

Oh, good grief! Are you kidding? I used to eat at that place all the time. I'm happy we don't have one in our area now that I hear this. Thanks for the warning. I guess you can never know.

Er... nope. I don't think there is anything wrong about Chinese. This discussion borders on racism.... There are tons of Chinese in the world and many Chinese do pay a lot of attention to hygiene. I am sure Chinese all around are not particularly less hygienic than Europeans, Americans, Martians, etc. What I would suggest is that you try to look around the stall if possible. Some places, regardless of cuisines served, are dirtier and those are the ones you might want to avoid getting food from. Peace!

seafood is healthy for all our human body, and our Chinese seafood is of course safe, if you really got sick seeing a Chinese doctor is ok.

The only time that I have ever had a problem with the seafood in a chinese meal was when I had from a new place. I ordered a king prawn butterfly I think it was, that was all I had ordered too and I was really looking forward to it as I love prawns. Plus we had not had chinese takeout for ages, so it was delivered and I was dishing up and I could smell this funny smell. I realised that it was coming from mine, and it smelled vile. There was no way I was taking a chance on eating it so I just threw it away.

Not that I can remember, we get garlic prawns (shrimp as you call it) often and of course the fried rice has prawns, even had sechan squid and not a problem, but not on a buffet I must admit, we always order it fresh from the menu!

Oh, I'm glad I don't eat seafood except fish. I know I have heard many people are allergic to some types of seafoods and especially if you don't know where it came from and how long have it been stored or how long it traveled before reaching the restaurants.

Nope I have never gotten sick from chinese take out and if I did I would never order from them again because it would most likely be there fault that you got sick. Im thankful ive never gotten sick because I love chineese food and I would hate it if I got sick from one of my favorie chineseese restraunts since I wouldnt eat there anymore.
