Well, what I can say is that if it is allowed by the culture there is nothing we can do about it. In Thailand, teachers have also the right to hurt problematic students. But if you are a parent and you don't want to kids to get hurt no matter how naughty they are then send them to international schools where hurting is not allowed.

So, tell me what you do in Korea. I was constantly asked by a friend to move to Korea from Thailand but I didn't really think I would like it there. I have worked with some of them in the Philippines and I like their foods.

Hello marketing07, here in India education is a state (provincial) matter, and hence policies on student - teacher relations deffer from state to state. I am in the state of Kerala in south India and here we have strict rules against physical abuse of students by teachers. A teacher beating up a student to shed blood is unthinkable. It is barbarian, horrible. Gone are the days here that a teacher carries a cane with him/her to beat students. I am very sorry to hear about your son.

I totally disagree a teacher should have the right to hurt his student both mentally and physically. Teacher is supposed to be a professional worker so he must know how handle kids’ problems instead of using violence to stop the problem. As a parent definitely I don’t like to see my kid to be hurt by his teacher in school.

I agree with you. Lawsuit! That is pretty weird for a teacher to draw blood, though. I definitely wouldn't want to go to school in Korea.

In this day and age it is a sad truth kids do not give respect anymore. In this case I don't understand why the teacher bite him as you never mentioned what he did to cause the biting. There had to have been something that your husbands nephew did to cause the teacher to do this. The big thing right now on youtube is a teacher and a student fighting. Is the teacher justified in doing so. I beleive she/he is as they need to hold their own ground. Kids these days are not like when I was growing up. They are quite rude and will and do anything. Did you ask your nephew what he did?

oh yes, he said that one of his classmates told the teacher that he bully some students,,and he said i never do that..thanks

There had to be something more than a student just saying that he bullied another student? That doesn't seem right at all. I do not agree with the drawing blood nor the biting. I think you should be making a meeting not only with the teacher and the child and yourselves but the principal as well. There is something that is not being said here.

What do you mean Korean way? Is he studying in Korea or what? Or he has a Korean professor? Here in the Philippines hurting physically is prohibited especially when it comes to Professors. Giving direct assault by saying foul languages are not allowed also. The students can complain to the administrators or school authority if they violated the rules of the school. That is considered already as abuse if they are going to do that.

They don't have any right to hurt any of their students. And if that will be reported for sure, he might end up losing his license for doing that. They are there to educate and discipline in a right way. They have to be that huge patient since it is essential in their fields. No one would ever trust him nor want him to be the teacher of their kids if that is his way in disciplining the students!

That's so terrible. No matter what, a teacher can never have physical and mental hurt for the students. This teacher is so wrong and he/she is not even qualified to be a teacher. Such kind of teacher shall be fired. I love China

teacher-student relationship - it is very important to have a very happy teacher-student relationship as it helps a lot.
Hello dear marketing friend. I am so sorry to hear that your son was beaten by his teacher as some punishment, which is not the way a teacher is supposed to use to teach his student. I have been a teacher for years, but I have never beaten any students. I always try my best to be their friends to have them behave better in my class and I am very happy that my students love me as their teacher.

Hi Marketing, we used to have the slipper and the cane as punishment here in the UK and in fact it did work as a deterent, there is none now so the kids think they can get away with anything but to draw blood is a step too far and I would personally be VERY ANGRY at the teacher for having done that. Not in the US. I was slapped by a teacher in 6th grade (we're talking the late 1960's here) and she was fired. I didn't even say anything but another kid must have. Schools here are concerned with lawsuits, among other things.

Absolutely not. Teachers should be the second parents of the students. They can correct the students and teach them the right way of doing bad things correctly but they don't have the right to hurt the students. Here in korea, if you hit the students you can be imprison. From the time you choose teaching as your profession, it comes in package the obligation of being the second parents of your students.

I think it is a very bad way to educate the student! I also hate this way, because the bit is not just break the body, but also the so little heart of the student!
