Hello to everyone again This just got me thinking when I saw a note book lying around on our table. I recalled the morning shows that reminded parents about how soon the new school year will be, implying on newer expenses on school supplies, new uniforms for the new students and most important, financial needs when enrolling their children to school. However, though expenses are common to us, day in and day out, the notebook that I saw lying around reminded me of another memory, during my high school. My notebooks during high school had drawing and odd notes at the back. Besides the usual notes that student have to take down on particular classes, my notebooks had comic strips behind them, dull poems or even journals. I even got myself a notebook that I made into a comic book, later realizing that a comic book that hade more pages than the usual comic books are already considered as graphic novels. How about you guys? Did you draw or write anything else in your note books when you were still in high school? Recalled anything special? Please do share

I doodled and wrote notes ALL over my books and binders in school. My mom used to get upset with me because she always thought she'd have to buy me new binders because the old ones had writing on them. Whatever. It gave them unique flair. I still doodle all over everything. Too creative for my own good. :P

So I would assume that you probably have a lot of binders with nice designs on them by now. That can be lucrative for you and being creative can be too good for you after all.

hi ratyz, Thanks for reminding those beautiful memories, yes i used to write many thing at the last page of my notebook. Even i used to draw some cartoon characters and name them. Some time we used to write funny things beside the cartoon character and then pass the note book in the whole class. And then my friends used to write on the same page.. in short Disturbing the whole class. enjoy :)

I also drew plenty of characters at the back of my notebooks, most of them conceptual from other shows or comics that I have read. You really do have a unique way of disturbing the class as it seems Good thing your classmates are coopertaive with that diturbance you start with

hi ratyz! ^__^ that's the reason why i enjoy browsing my old school notebooks! there are lots of things to see at the back and even at the top of each page. when i was in high school, it was popular to draw a "sequence drawing" on the top of each page of our notebook. for example, a stick figure that when you turn the pages quickly, it would seem that it is walking and might reach something at the end (top rightmost of the page).^__^;; and then, i used to scribble just about anything at the back of my notebooks. useless things, specimen signatures, or just some abstract crap. and then, back in college, when i got into drawing, i used to draw anime characters at the back of my notebook, even in the middle part or even in between my notes!^__^;; i even drew at my reviewers/photocopies. LOL as long as there's space and i'm bored reviewing, i'd draw anything. and during lectures that i get bored, i would write comments regarding my professor, answering everything he/she is saying, not just at the back of my notebook but also on the top of each page again.^__^;; it seems my hand just can't rest for a second.

Kenshin Himura from Rurouni Kenshin and Hiei of Yu Yu Hakusho.. Other people like hentai as other people also like other genres.. You wonder why some guys like to watch wrestling while some ladies prefer to watch drama when in fact both of such shows are well scripted anyway? I just couldn't figure out why that classmate of mine asked if I could draw hentai yet requests for a yaoi work.. You seem to be someone who could draw good work if you can sell them.. ('_^ )

Sequence drawings... I think I was among the only few who did that in our class.. the teachers would surely notice it when we have to submit our subject notebooks to them so when we do have an extra, perhaps an assignment notebook, even up to high school? we'd do those sequence drawings During my college days, I really had a spare pad just for drawings since I really don't want others see my drawings on photocopied reviewers or lectures that teachers often distribute to us in class. Then again, whenever at break time, that is when the teacher still hasn't arrived, I draw on my that extra pad I have and my classmates would see me, inquire if I could do portraits. I'd humbly reply that I don't know and continue drawing.. Then one of them even inquired if I could do hentai.. got surprised not only by the inquiry but, by who was inquiring - a female classmate.. I then replied that I could try.. and then she gave me two popular anime characters that I could maybe draw in that genre.. She got disappointed when I declined after hearing her mention two known male characters.

No I don't. I'm the pad paper guy. I do all my doodle and drooling there. Before the opening of class I set 1 day just for covering my notebooks. I would cover it with plastic so perfectly tight and straighten that it looks like its been laminated. Even the scotch tape has to the right places and in equal size. On school days I kept my notebooks very clean, no wrinkles, I even see to it that the corners are perfectly cornered. During class and in writing notes, I would first do it in pad paper and later at home I would transfer it neatly in their respective notebooks. Most of the time it will all end up in pad paper. This is why at the end of the school year some of my notebooks are till good for the next one. Now is this a sign of a sick mind

Hmmm, I really can't say if that's sick since that doesn't seem to be one of those obsessive-compulsive ones we get to know wherein people with the condition would repeatedly do something to alleviate persistent fears or intrusive thoughts.. as you did mentioned that you would later transfer all the notes you wrote from your pad paper onto your neat notebooks, that certainly isn't a symptom. Those who are obsessive-compulsive would do things repeatedly, like washing their hands on and on, even though their hands are already clean. I guess your just organized and neat about those notebooks of yours. If I were wrong and that was indeed a sickness, I wouldn't mind being sick like that too when it comes to drawing things. I would all do my drafts on some pad paper and later on would transfer a final rendition on a sketch book or something. Thank you for responding by the way

I've only justified your uncertainty of having a sick mind with the habit that you have elaborated. Sick already implies a disorder of things and knowing that well organized habit of yours only proves that there isn't anything sick, for you had that habit with your notebooks on having them well ordered. A pschiatrist? Everyone has their own unique disorders. Perhaps yours was your uncertainty of the habit of being organized that you have related while mine would be my pretentious opinions that pretty much conceals my inferiority. Well, thank you for the compliment

high school life is the craziest time in school for me all my fondest memory is during this time of my life. writing or drawing is one of on a notebook or book is a way of past time for me. i write names of my crush in my notebooks and books also i draw the faces of my professor like a demon or as satan because sometimes i don't want to listen to their discussions. or they are always scolding us for being so rude and inattentive in class. im not good in drawing i always draw stick people hehe. i sometimes write something to a classmates book or notebook to make fun of them. like drawing big lines or different shapes in the whole page of the book and i will not tell that i am the one responsible for doing it and my classmate will get so angry but can't tell who did it.

Those books sure do seem like to have plenty of blank pages for your drawing pleasure for a past time. Names of crushes? I wasn't able to do that since I often get my notebooks borrowed and I wouldn't like others to know the prospects that I find interesting. Drawing demonic images of those who scold at you for being rude and not attentive in class.. One of the things I couldn't also do is to use other classmate's things to draw on.. my hand writing and drawing style is often familiar to some of my classmates back then and surely, if someone would ask, I can easily be pointed out as the culprit for vandalizing their books or notebooks. You certainly made your high school life pretty interesting

Exclusive schools... So your set up during high school was all masculine and stuff.. that's explains it..

nah, i draw every where in my books even if it has important notes in it. i had my high school years in an exclusive school so i don't care if they will know the name of my crush and another thing is my notebooks are not borrowed by my classmates because i'm the one borrowing their notebooks, i don't usually copy notes. even though my classmates knew my penmanship its ok with because we are all close to each other and little stuff like those are nothing to us. for sure i make my high school days the best years of my life. even my college days can't top it up.

Your story reminds me too of my friend named Jojie. He is also my classmate waybak in high school. He is the only person whom in my entire high school year that i've never seen to bring a bag or a notebook. I only seen him only with a ballpen. Although the school provides book for us students, I dont even see him bring even one book. Oh! High school days! I miss it!

You mean the story I posted on my reply to Ravenladyj's post? With what you have shared, I now recall my college classmate who only brought his phone and pen! Our first college years were really like high school to me Thanks for sharing!

Binders, I use to make some of those during my high schools but, didn't work out so I just got those notebook straps for my notebooks and later on, just left those notebooks of mine at some place in the class room so that it'd be just there when I needed it and would only take the ones that home that I have to work on. Thank you for sharing.. band logos and drawing.. classmates.. high school indeed.. :)

I wasn't much for doodling all over my stuff, however, I did sometimes reserve the very last page in my notebook to just randomly write, scribble, and doodle anything that came into my head. Sometimes it was quite random and other times it was serious brainstorming for a poem I wanted to write or some other artistic project. I would also print pictures off of the internet and put them in my plannners and assignment notebooks and use different colored pens and markers to write down my assignments. I have been practically cursed with an impeccable memory, so these planners didn't last long - my teachers never really believed that anyone could remember their assignments + plans without writing them down, but apparently my brain is just wired in a weird way like that as I planned just by memory and never missed an assignment. Unfortunately, I don't have anything too profound or big to bring back memories as a lot of you have...

My alternative writings and drawings all begin at the back of the notebooks I had. They weren't planned though to begin with. When something just comes up or whims takes over, similar to being random and from sudden sparks of inspirations. Some may doodle all over their stuff and I wouldn't have anything against those who do, its their stuff to begin with anyway. I guess you had your own way on doing things with different colored pens and even printing out images from the net. When we have assignements that required illustrations, I mostly do them myself though not as impressive but, enough to find merit among my classmates. Can't afford to have pictures printed those times since we didn't had a computer yet with a printer. If its a curse for you, I guess its a curse for you. Some would look at the capability of impeccable memory differently. Your the one who had that weirdly wired brain so you have more complaints for it than what I could ever suggest as advantages, you know your brain better than anyone would do. Anyone in our class during high school can simply recall assignments anyway, you just have to recall the subjects you took and recall if any of them assigned a homework(s). That was easy for us during in high school since the subjects we all took were all in order like Science came after Math while History came before Arts and Literature, something like that. Profound or not, memories and the significance of them would always vary from each individual that experienced that moment in their lives. Thank you for participating

I often saw notebooks like that from my other classmates too. Trying out different kinds of signatures that would look good. I wish I did that since my signature now is completely like a crumpled wire Concept design for cars?

Hehehe, thanks for reminding me of those games we use to play during those boring times at school. Our math notebooks really made SOS or XOX very convenient to play I also brought such snack at school and we ate them while classes were on going. My classmates would be hiding behind chairs while munching away. Sleep was the only things I couldn't do.. I was simply to tall to get caught sleeping..

If you would be seeing my notebooks in my highschool days, you would find out that there are more doodles in the back than the notes for the subject. Most of the time, I spend more time writing and drawing something at the back of the notebook than writing down notes. I do draw comic strips but I have never came up with a graphic novel though. I do it mostly when I am bored of the subject. Or sometimes, when listening to the subject, I thought of something related to the subject but in a more comic way. But mostly I'm just bored.

I think I was fortunate enough to get free time during classes when I was able to draw much on my notebooks. We often wrote the same thing on notebooks among classmates so in case I do get to have some notes missing on my notebooks, I could always borrow a classmates and copy from them. If teachers were only so skilled on keeping our attention when they teach their subjects to us..

Yeah, I was looking through all my old school stuff yesterday and I have tons of poems and drawings all over my work/notes. I remember that drawing got me in trouble quite a few times during class because we were suppose to be taking notes but instead I was drawing one of the pictures that was on the wall next to the overhead. I kinda missed being in High School since I graduated at 16. All my friends are finally graduating this year so I get to catch up with them and everything. Oh and I even found about 6 journals that I have full of drawings and poems from when we had to go to Study Hall.

I guess we have plenty of memories stored on such notebooks. Either it being good or bad, they are still memories conveniently kept within our notebooks through either visual works or written texts that really had nothing to do during the classes wherein they were made. I also kind'a miss my days when I was still attending school. You tend to have more friends there since you do meet there at a daily basis.

I usually had notes between friends and me, or doodles, or little comic strips. xD They were never anything interesting, just something to keep me a little focused during class.

That's kind'a odd.. for most of those would surely take your focus out of class for soe students, surely I'm one of those that would be distracted
