What is playing safe and being true for you?

Since I am watching a reality TV shows and of course I am posting and reading the forums I find it awkward when people say that a person is playing safe because they can't see anything wrong to that person. Then the others will say that they are just being true as a shame excuse for their faults. I don't really believe that if you are doing good and right is you are just playing safe, you don't want to hear the other comments of people around you and of course you are just protecting your image. I think it is normal that there are people who has good traits. It seems that they are saying that if you are doing faults you are just being real how come is that so? How come that there are a lot of people that can't believe that there are really people who can control their anger, patience and yet it could be also too good to be true for her good attitude? How come there are also people that are afraid of intelligent and sensible people at the same time? It is like being an Angel is fake while being Evil is true. No offense but that is my interpretation.
