This is Wednesday morning and we are thankful to just be alive this morning, the weather is bad here in Ohio and more coming out of Indiana, we have been under a tornado watch since early yesterday evening, at one point I had to quickly get in my truck and go to my daughter's and get in her basement, as one was spotted and headed directly towards us, When I say basement It is like a crawl space under the apartment. But suited me fine,as we would hopefully be safer under there than upstairs. It is about a 4 foot drop to the ground, easy to get into, but hard for a old woman like me to get out of. We tried to set a step stool up so I could climb out but there was not room for me and the stool. Finally my grand daughter scooted over a tub that I could get my foot on and lift myself to the top, and then scoot out.
We was down ther with her purse, which was smart, I never even looked for mine when I left, it is only 2 buildings over, and her cell phone. Come to find out she does not own a flashlight, so if it had hit here, we would of been in a mighty dark place, she called several people to tell them we was in the basement if the house fell in to come dig us out. It is a horrible thing to have to go througt this, to fear coming out to find your home gone and you auto. I was in a F-5 in 1974 and I will never forget the destruction it left. We had warnings all night and I tried to stay away to listen but was worn out, so I turned the tv up so that I could hear the alert as they put it on the tv and wake up to see what was happening. I never wanted to come back to this part of the country and fight these storms, but Hurricane Katrina left us no choice. I will get a weather radio today and know when these warnings for our area are being put out. It is 45 minutes before the tornado watch is to exspire and now they are saying it could be extended, why does people have to endure such horrible things, isn't life hard enough without having to endure this too. Anyone in the path of these storms please be safe and don't make light of these warnings they are there to keep you safe.

I hope you are okay, I am lucky that I live on the bottom floor but I would never be able to get into a crawl space. Fortunately we do not get hurricanes, tornadoes, or earthquakes here.

Hi bdugas,
I am so glad that you are ok!
We had some really bad weather here in Va last night. Much of the state was under tornado watches and warnings. I was blessed that my town was not part of that.
It is highly unusual for VA or at least this side of the state to have tornados because we have so many mountains. It was a rough night!
Take care of yourself and stay safe!

Hello bdugas,
Last night we had also a warning. My husband and I were just facing our PC to monitor the radar online and I was really praying hard. I was scared a little but seeing my husband with no little worries in his face, made me also to become more faithful. Good thing, after a couple of minutes, the warning stopped and we were able to go back to sleep. Today, we are having thunderstorms, I am glad you post this, I will be bearing in my mind about cellphone and flashlight if ever! Thanks!
