Ft Worth Zoo

This last Sunday my family and I visited the Ft Worth Zoo in Ft Worth, Texas. It was such an enjoyable experience. We got there before they opened at 10am. The lines were short and there is plenty of shade. The zoo itself is beautiful, and very reasonable. I love this zoo and was wondering if anyone can recommend any other zoos in Texas worth visiting this summer?

I don't know of any other zoos but I do have to agree with you. I've only been once and that was four years ago when I had my nephew for the summer. The Dallas Zoo is closer but my dad suggested Ft. Worth instead so the three of us went there instead. It is MUCH better than the Dallas Zoo! We loved it. Not only was it clean but the habitats are nice, there's things for the kids to do, and of course you can ride the train. My nephew had a blast! Another place we visited that summer is the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. You can drive your car through, feed animals along the way, and there's a spot to have lunch.

Where is that located at? I do not believe we have been there. We went to one outside of New Braunsfel last summer. It was very good!

It's in Glen Rose, just over an hour south from DFW. I know there's other things to do in that area as well but I'd have to look it up to see what the park is called. I believe there are dinosaur tracks out there you can check out. I remember going on a field trip when I was a kid and it was really cool.

Hi Deborah, I still recall my first trip to the Ft. Worth Zoo. I was 7 years old. I'm 45 now. Do they still have the little train? You are right, it is a wonderful zoo. I went once again when I was older. I live in Alabama now. The Birmingham zoo isn't anything like the zoo in Texas. I don't recollect visiting any other zoos while I lived in Texas. Sorry. Carolyn
