Alright.. Barack Obama is now the offical democratic canidate for the next president of the USA.. I have a problem with this.. 1) he is multi racial and he is not only african american 2) so his white side of the family has been pushed aside for this? Both of his parents have passed on and so I guess he feels it is ok to shun the white part of his heritage, Why cant he just be a man running for the Presidency for the USA?? what are your thoughts on this? I myself come from a RAINBOW FAMILY (multi-racial)

He's never tried to claim he didn't have a white parent. Hilary Clinton and everyone on the news are the ones who said he is black. I don't know why he can't just be a man running for president. Why does race or gender matter anyway? It doesn't make sense.

true, however he is not saying anything to all of the reports that he is the FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN either..?? You also echo what I said, why should it matter? Thanks for posting and I guess we will just wait and see what happens next.

Colour is a very convenient thing. I mean, to call himself a "Black" candidate is quite a powerful statement, especially when you consider the fact that there never has been a "Black" candidate in history. I think Liberal academics will have a field day discussing the extent of Barak's "Blackness" as they proceed to write about the history that's taking place. I don't think Barak specifically pushes his "Blackness" as a campaining point just as Tiger Woods avoids pushing his Blackness on the Golf Course. Tiger is incidentally of mixed perentage but that doesn't quite sound the same as being a "Black Golf Player." Race, like it or not is a wonderful marketing tool in sport and politics and it's to the credit of both Barak Obhama and Tiger Woods that they've avoided talking about their colour and turning it into an issue (though others inevitably do it for them.) I just hope that Barak Obhama continues to follow Tiger Woods example and pursue his policies without colour on the brain.

His father was Arabic and his mother was white. I think his grandmother was African American. So I agree-he is just a MAN running for President of the US. He isn't really Africa American anyway.

In the movie of 24 hours, there are two Africa- America presidents. Both of them gave me deep impression. Why can not Africa-Americans be presidents? If they are qualified, they can.
