For those of you with long hair or long-haired family members; how do you get long hair off carpets and rugs? The vacuum doesn't get it up very good and the my carpet sweeper has to be constantly cleaned out and the hair removed from the brushes. Do carpet rakes work? A particular type of vacuum? Some altogether different trick?

I never knew carpet rakes even existed. The best solution for me is to wet the broom and start sweeping. It actually works pretty well. The only downside is that you have to deal with a somewhat damp carpet. I learned this trick from my mom after she found me using a lint roller on the carpet.

Hey, thanks! That's a great low tech idea. I think that would work very well for area rugs.
