They say that the key to using credit cards wisely is knowledge and discipline. To prevent high interest rates and too much credit card bills than you can handle. Let the credit card work to your advantage, not the other way around. One thing to ensure that is by paying the bills on time and also pay the full amount. Any more credit card usage tips there?

People can't always pay the bill in full, that's why they used a credit card. It's important to pay your bill in a timely manner and don't ever pay just the minimum. Keep only one or two credit cards and watch out for department store credit cards! They have high interest rates. What's the point of buying something on sale if you're going to pay interest on your purchase? Maybe it balances out_ If you have troubles controlling your credit card spending, freeze your assets. Place your credit cards in a freezer container, fill it 3/4 full with water and put it in your freezer. You'll have time to think about those impulse purchases waiting for your plastic money to thaw!

I use a credit card for most purchases. Since I pay it in full and on time every month, I don't pay any interest or fees. I chose my card, not based on the interest rate, but based on its reward program. (Since I don't pay interest anyway, I don't really care what the rate would be. I care more about the number of points I gain and getting the cash back or the gift cards.)

I do always pay the minimums on time. I finally got my husbands credit up to where it is really good. His ex wife had ruined his credit and it took alot of work to get it back to normal.

YES!! I really try to pay my bills online...Especially credit card bills at that. Cause all of that rolls into your credit score. And yes you are right. Let the card work for you...and not the other way around.

hi misshoney. yes i pay my credit card bills on time. problem is i only pay the minimum amount and not the whole amount. i know this isn't advisable as interest rates add up and i get a bigger bill in the long run. as for credit card usage tips, never use your credit card for regular expenses such as groceries unless you plan to pay the full amount when the bill comes.

Definately use them WISELY...it gets SO TEMPTING to constantly whip out the card to pay for things rather than to use cash. I knwo I was TERRIBLE for that when we had cards...and yes paying your bills on time is A MUST..and in full as well like you said...We dont have them anymore but I'm planning on getting another one before Xmas I figure...

Paying bills on time is very important. Even if you can't pay the full amount, get that money in for the minimum payment, or you will end up paying $25+ just as a late charge, which is a total waste of money. Also, if you are late with a payment, the credit card company can then raise your interest rate immediately (even if you are on a "special offer"). I pay my cards off every month. I've got two rewards cards that I use, so I get my points without paying the interest. I use one of the cards for all my daily expenses, gas, groceries, cell phone bill, and most everything else. The other card is for stuff I buy for work and get reimbursed for (points without spending any money at all!) Every 8 months or so, I earn a $100 gift card from the first card, which is very useful. And I get about $50 back each year from the other card. So, definately, look for a good rewards card with no membership fee if you pay off your card every month (if you don't, look for the lowest interest rate).

Yes, I always pay on time and sometimes I'll pay as soon as the bill comes in. I also always pay more than the minimum payment. Unless the charge was an emergency, we rarely use the CC unless we've already saved for the item (or trip). That way, when the bill comes in, we can pay at least half, if almost all of the charges in the first month.

Yes, whenever possible. Getting an exorbitant late fee is not my idea of a good time. The ideal is to pay your bill off every month so that you do not have to pay any interest on your balance. My husband is really good about doing that. he rarely has a balance on his credit cards. I'm not quite as good at it as he is.

I always make sure to pay my bills on time to avoid having charges. And so far I haven't been late in paying my debts. What I do with my credit card was I use it only if I really don't have enough cash to pay my purchases but I make a limit in my purchases. I always set a budget in using my credit card. That is to avoid problems in looking for the money for paying the card. Another thing is if I really need to buy somehing and I don't have cash and I already gone trough my budget in usage of the card I wait for the cut off date before buying anything. In that way I still keep in my budget. Hope Id help!
