Just a fishing story...kinda

As our son was growing up his dad would take him fishing every spring. They would get out the fishing boat and take it to a couple of nearby lakes and fish for bass. When our son got into about the 7th grade they stopped going fishing and for many years my husband never even used the boat. Our son is now grown up, graduated from college and getting married this August. Suddenly out of the blue he called his dad a few weeks ago and wanted to go fishing...so they dusted off the boat (literally) and off they went. In all the times they have fished together they have caught VERY FEW fish. This time they each kept a couple of bass and they released some trout. Can I tell you how excited they were. Lo and behold the next week our son calls again. This time he wants to "borrow" the boat and take a friend fishing. My husband said "Ok" but was concerned that our son had not pulled or launched a boat. Well the boat survived and he caught a couple more fish. A week later our son called AGAIN! This time he wanted to take the boat on an overnight camping trip. UGH! The trailer had not been on a freeway for MANY years. This had "warning" written all over it..but they made it to their destination safely. Once there everyone wanted to be in the boat and it is only a small aluminum one. They managed to get 3 people in it trolling for trout and they got their lines all tangled and lost the weight to the downrigger. Fish count=0 At this point my husband and I are thinking he has had his fill of fishing after this last disasterous weekend. But Ooohhhh no! Today he calls and he is wanting his dad's opinion on a used Bass Tracker boat he is thinking of buying. OMG he bought it! He and his dad are now beside themselves with excitement to take this boat out. What I love about this story is that what they experienced as father and son so many years ago they are rekindling and it opens up so many more opportunities for happy memories.

Well, I can relate with the story. Fishing is really an exciting and a memorable experience for me as well. I only did it a couple of times when I was a little girl and I can never forget the excitement it gave me when my bait got bitten. I have never been on a fishing trip again after that and it was more than 20 years ago. But if I would have a chance I would definitely jump into it and be a kid again. Your husband did a good job taking your son to fishing and now you see that he is grown into a responsible person who would better gone fishing than stay in the pubs.
