What do you do with used paper? What is the right way to dispose paper or make the most of it to be able to help save the environment? Do you know that papers are made from trees? The more use it, the more trees will be cut down to meet the demands of people. If you really care...please share!

Trees are a renewable resource so it's not a big deal to use paper products because cut trees are replaced. I shred any piece of paper that has my or my husband's personal information on it and throw anything else in the trash.

Yes, you can plant new trees. But how long will it take to have them fully grown? Even if we plant new trees but if we keep on cutting down trees for paper (and other reasons), we'll be left with seedlings and *adolescent* trees. It's not like wool or cotton that you can harvest annually.

Reforestation programs have been going on for decades, it's a big business in itself, so there are plenty of seedlings planted every year. Take a look at the link and you will see a long list of companies that do just that. The logging industry is the livelyhood of many people so they would be complete idiots if they didn't plan for the replacement and growth of the trees that are harvested. The only difference between trees and cotton is the amount of time needed for growth and that has always been taken into account or the industry would have gone out of business a long time ago.

I totally agree with swirlz. Yes, trees are renewal but it will take awhile. Yes, there are these programs. Thank God we have them. Do we really need these? If we will only learn to maximize the use of paper we will "prevent" ourselves from cutting trees because of demands. Eventhough papers are dissolved into soil, they pollute our environment and it is bad. If we can 'prevent', let us do. Thank you for responding to both of you. Your opinions are valuable. Tke care =)

We recycle all of ohter trash. When we get newspapers, after reading it, I put in the recyle, as well as bottles, plastic. And I save a lot of paper by paying my bills online. I don't get the statements. All I do is check my balance on the computer, how much I owe and I'm set. What should be done, is the big apartment complexes, they should recycle, just like everyone else.

That is very nice. Thank you so much for recycling and helping save the environment. Well you are doing just fine. For the whole apartment complex, you can start by giving newsletter about how important recycling or segregating recyclable things from non-recyclable because there are garbage patrols who can help you with that. Thank you for responding. Take care =)

I love trees, so usually i make Origami out of it and keep it as a collection , until some one spills water on it.
Another interest is that i sell those, so that it could be recycled.

I knew that paper made from trees. I hate that! I force myself to use papers wisely. I force myself to make used paper be useful. Just use it anymore and more!
