Me there are two hours of TV, and they are basically well edited programs, no adults for my kids-Do have any restrictions?

academic_ My kids are all grown-up but I controlled how much TV they watched. It wasn't a big deal, I read to them all the time and they never missed a thing. I'm grateful I'm not raising kids today. The world has changed into a scary place. Parents today have so much more to protect their kids from. How old are your children? Do they feel restricted and experience your censoring in a positive way? Or is there a conflict? I'm asking because I'm interested in knowing how parenting has changed over the years.

You did good parenting anawar! I started putting an embargo on TV since they were 5 and 4 years respectively-today they are teenagers, 14 and 15 respetfully. They have ome to accept this although i know they dont like it too much, my worry is the peer influence and am sure they are curious about the items i censure them against from peers who narrate such movies and TV episodes to them! Thanks a lot for your respons anawar!

As our kids get older, we do have to let them go. Otherwise, they might get into trouble because they want to know what they're missing out on. Peer pressure hurts kids. When my kids were in their teens, I let them make their own choices. I'm so happy I'm not faced with today's challenges as our kids grow up!

I dont have kids, but if I did , they would only be able to watch TV on rainy days like I did growing up...there is so much for young minds to do outside and around the town....they are too young to sit and veg in front of a box watching other poeples lives unfold when they could be living their own....kids belong outside playing and getting fresh air and excersise and meeting others.

My parents were not strict....I loved being outside and now as an adult I have an appreciation for nature and I know a lot about the natural world...so many kids today disrespect the planet because they have spent to much time with TV's and video games instead of getting to know nature.....I thank my paretns all the time for bringing me up the way I did....

watching tv - Usually during the normal period of study, there is restriction to my son in watching TV, but not during his vacation.
Hello dear academic friend. Usually during the normal period of study, there is restriction to my son in watching TV, but not during his vacation. It is good that we don't have adult programs, so there is no need for us to worry about his learning something which is not supposed to.
