What does the comment mean about taking earnings from MyLot members?

I have a question: Days ago I read a comment made on this site about a member's earnings, in which they had earnings taken from them? How is this, do I have this wrong, maybe misunderstood the information or point of discussion? I understand you get paid when your earnings reach $10, and paid for discussions you start. What about your reply, do you get credit for your responses. Also, I rate each member when they have made an effort to give advice, comments interesting or that are helpful... do we get paid for that too? I am new to the site, and there is so much to read.... please reply! Thanks!

Your earnings at myLot can be adjusted. They are not fixed until you get paid. Sometimes you lose a cent or two when a post or a discussion is removed for violating myLot guidelines. You should read the guidelines so you know not to break them. Nobody knows exactly how our earnings are calculated at myLot but it is not just related to the number of posts you write. Every member should rate other people's posts and your posts will be rated too. Earnings are updated once a day but can also be adjusted during the day. You should not worry if the total goes down a bit because it can go up as well, and if you lose a few cents you can easily earn a few more by writing a couple of responses. It is complicated but you will earn money by writing good responses and starting discussions which get responses. When your earnings reach $10 you will be paid the following month. You can earn enough to get paid every month if you are an active member at myLot. You should have fun, make friends and enjoy taking part, and you will be rewarded.

Thanks paid2write! You have explained it very well. My reasoon for being here as a member, is not for the little money that one can make. My main reason here, is to communicate with others, enjoy their discussions, maybe give advice or helpful tips, and most of all.... meet new friends. Since I have retired and moved to a different state, miss the friendship of employees. Yes, I do rate others! Thanks again!

I believe it to be that mylot took an amount from someone for whatever reason they deemed nessecary. Usually it's that a post was repeated or simular to another. Yes, I understand you get peid when you get $10. I also rate the people responding to my discussions. I don't think we get paid for doing this. The others get something for the ratings, just as you will get something for others rating you. The star with a number in it by ours names is one of these things we get. I'm not sure if we get money for these or what we get. I just know it helps somehow.

Looks like poster #2 explained it pretty well. Just remember that it doesn't have to be your discussion that violates guidelines and gets deleted. Sometimes it is a responder that causes the deletion. In any case, it the discussion is deleted for whatever reason, the poster AND all of the responders will lose their earnings for that discussion. But it's only a penny or two, so really no big deal. People who constantly lose discussions are usually risking it by entering into controversial topics that can get pretty heated between people. I learned that by getting creamed when I voiced my opinion in a political discussion, so I try to stay away from those if possible. lol
