A heart in the mouth moment.

This morning, I did a discussion on my son and how we argued and that he swore on my life that he was telling the truth. In fact he later admitted he was lying and I told him he should be careful of doing things like that because how would he feel if something happened to me. Well, this afternoon I think that he learnt a bit of a lesson. Walking down the street were my son, myself and my 2 year old daughter, we were walking along the pavement by a road and I had just put my daughter on the other side of me away from the road, and my son was on the other side of her I was right next to the road. Next thing this car came careering around the corner and was going really fast down the road as it came to go past us, the drivers door flew open and it was coming straight towards me! The dozy mare did not slow down at all but tried to shut the door as she was speeding along causing her to swerve and come up the pavement. How I managed to get out of the way I do not know, my heart was in my mouth I really thought I was going to be hit. But I was not thank goodness and we were all OK. I was a bit jumpy for a while and thought that my son had marked my card for me with swearing on my life! I also think it made him stop and think about things too which might be a good thing, but we will see. The woman did not even slow down or make an attempt to see if I was OK, but that is fine I know who she is and I will have a word with her sometime in the next few days. OK so has anyone else had any near misses or incidents that have caused you to have a heart in the mouth moment?

i'm glad to hear that everything ended up fine for you and your kids. i think the strangest things that ever happened to me involving a car was about 10 years ago. a friend and i were walking home from school and this car sped up to try to hit us while we were crossing in the crosswalk. i seem to recall yelling a profanity at him as he flew past us. would you believe he actually turned the car around and started chasing us down the street!!!! ever since that encounter, i memorize license plates of cars that pass me when i'm out walking- you never know when you'll need it.

That is scary. Funnily enough I always memorize number plates, if someone beeps their horn at me I look at their number plate to see if I know them.

I wonder how he feels now about swearing on your life. Did you have another chat with him about tempting fate like that?

I think he realises that he has to be careful with words, but he does not believe in things like that. When someone does not believe it can be hard to get through to them. He is having a hard time, as a teenager you either fly through it and love it, or you rebel against it and hate the world. Unfortunately my son is the second of the two, but there again I was too and to a degree I know exactly what he is going through and feeling.

I had a accident with my car. It was five years ago but I still remember it as though it was yesterday. I blacked out behind the wheel of my car. It was at a busy intersection and I had gone through a red light. When I came to I was stopped on a gentleman's lawn. I was hit by a oncoming car straight on. I was not seriously hurt and neither was the women in the other car who was driving. When I came to sitting behind the wheel of my car I looked around and couldn't believe it. I was very shaken up. The one thing I have to say is there had to be my guardion angel steering my car or else it could have been a whole lot worse than it was.
