Why Woul Obama Be Against This?

Obama has gone on record as saying he would roll back Bush's tax cuts, but why? Bush's tax cut resulted in: Doubled the child tax credit to $1,000 per child. Fixed the marriage penalty. Expanded the earned-income credit for married joint filers. Cut taxes to 10 percent for low-income taxpayers. Reduced marginal tax rates across the board. Capital-gains tax rate from 20 to 15 percent and cut the tax rate on dividends from as high as 39.6 percent to 15 percent. Saving Americans $1.3 trillion in taxes. So what is wrong with that?

Nothing wrong with it, they are determined to take away anything that Bush has done to help the low income or disabled, elderly, only one of many that he will do to us if he is elected. The man a danger to the us and I can't see how an unknown is suddenly the top man for the presidency even with all the shady friends he has, something is not right. When you got people like Hamas backing a future president, why they do not even vote nor in this country, but they are backing him, afraid of what is going to happen to us, also would like to know where all these millions of dollars came from fro his campaign, he is a unknown he collected way more than the other 2 who are well known, where is this backing coming from, Hama? and why what do they expect in return.

What has Bush EVER done to help the poor, disabled or the elderly? That's sure one I missed! Annie

Anniepa, there is much you have missed because of your blind hatred of Bush. Bush is the First president to allocate Federal funds for stem cell research. Democrats called it a "ban". Bush is the first president in history to allocate Federal Funding for Hydrogen research. And whether you like it or not is largely responsible for the current "surge" in H research. Democrats say he's owned by "Big Oil". And that he is anti environment. Take a look at Dubya's Crawford Ranch. Compared to the home of a famous 'environmentalist'. http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/house.asp None other than BOB GELDOF, said that President Bush, "quadrupled aid to the poorest people on the planet" and that he has "done more for Africa than ANY OTHER PRESIDENT IN HISTORY." (even more than OPRAH!?!) I can't post the link because I haven't yet proven my innocence of being a spammer. But Geldof Interviewed Bush for TIME magazine back in Feb of this year. It shouldn't be hard to find. Tax cuts don't cause deficits Annie, Spending does. This huge deficit is really a small part of the GDP. but it's big enough for Democrat to use to demonize Bush. Anything to freakin' demonize Bush. And keep voters afraid of republicans. The tax cuts have brought a lot more money into the revenue, but when the Govt gets more money they just find new and more idiotic ways to spend it. This is one big way that conservatives differ w/ Bush.

Obama would say this because he is, take your pick: 1) Stupid 2) Ignorant of history 3) Admires Walter Mondale who promised to raise taxes and was soundly defeated by Ronald Reagan as a result. 4) Doesn't really want to win the Presidency. 5) All of the above. Just thought it was time once again for one of my multiple choice answers.

I will try to answer you question. I do think he want to win the Presidency, may not know how to but the top three work.

The problem with the whole thinking of the DNC and especially their candidates is they believe too much in the "take from the rich, give to the government, and hope some if it helps the poor just enough to make it look like what we did was the right thing." Unlike myself, the DNC believes that Congress can make better choices with your money than you can, and that your money will solve the problems with what they term "broken programs." Bill Foster, a Democrat Representative from Illinois is on record as saying that "there is nothing that can't be fixed by throwing more money at it" and it is mindsets like that result in tax cuts being rolled back. In my opinion, there should be no tax cuts anyway. The government should never take more money than it needs, and cut back so that we have lower taxes to begin with.

Congress can find better uses for our money than we can. We are not smart enough to manage our own money, and on top of that we should never have gotten a tax cut in the first place because someone is starving somewhere dammit, so how dare we get a tax cut when people are hungry? Or don't have communist health care, or whatever else stupid way of wasting our money that they can come up with. Besides, they are the government and we owe them.

Oh you are so right Destiny. Think about all of the wonderful thing government could have done with our money. I remember Senator Byrd saying American want value for their money. No Byrd American wants their money.

Yep, one of those democrats once said something like " Spend a few billion here, and spend a few billion there and pretty soon it adds up to REAL MONEY". I just love the economic prowess they demonstrate.

I wonder how you guys explain Warren Buffett's endorsement of Obama? Socailist lackey? In need of welfare handouts? Lacking in economic savvy? Hmm.. My inexpert opinion is the deficit these tax cuts have led to are the problem. Leaving more money in your pocket means less if the value of the dollar goes down and the basic cost of living goes up (food, gas, insurance, etc).

Oh Bravenewworld must I answer everything for you. Socialism is the belief that the collective is more important than the individual. One does not have to be poor to be a socialist. Buffet is a socialist, so is Obama. It is what it is. Any government control over ones life is socialism. One can be a trillionary, or have a penny to their name and be a socialist. Tax cuts do not create inflation, Printing more money than destoried does.

Do you really think that Obama will do this. When he started running for the President sit that is when you will hear his plan for America. Normal in politcs when a person is running for the president sit it is mostly about the party. After they receive the nomination then the whole country hear about their plans for the country. Why don't you want and see what is the real deal when he started to campaign for the president seat, then you will know what to do.

Obama has gone on record as saying he would roll back Bush's tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans and give more of a break to the lower and middle income earners. I have no children at home and I haven't save a penny from these tax cuts and everything else I buy that I MUST buy costs far more than it did when he took office. Lots is wrong with that! Annie

That is double talk. One cannot justify raising taxes on one group, but lower it on another. Big deal you did not get a tax cut, you did not deserve a tax cut.

Every tax bracket was cut, and a new 10% tax bracket was created. Anyone who says they did not see a tax cut either doesn't pay taxes or they are in error.
