The best way to do Mylot...is there a best way?

How often do you start discussions? Do you only start discussions and never respond? Do you just respond and never start discussions? I noticed something when I was experimenting with discussion with 0 responses that I would encounter discussion after discussion from one person and these get no responses. On closer look I find some strange things, as though the discussions were copied from somewhere else. Is this allowed? What would you do when this happened? I am not in the habit of reporting people but I just pass them by hoping that they find their bearings soon and make original discussions or at least respond to others' discussions. That would be good for everyone, imho.

I try to start a new discussion whenever I can think of a discussion I want to start, and I always make sure that I dont copy someone else's discussions, and I try to respond to as many discussions as I can which includes, responses on my responses.

That is a very reasonable way to think about starting discussions. For myself, something might hit me that I believe would also be interesting to many people and I go with that. I don't feel it is absolutely necessary to start a discussion at all. There are plenty of similar ones to respond to.

I agree it is not necessary to start discussions but I think it helps because,it gets you responses that you can respond too,and I have heard that you get paid more for making discussions.

I don't know if there really is a best way. I have mostly responded to discussions and have only started one myself. I find it easier to respond to existing ones. If i think of something to start a discussion on then i do but i'm mostly into responding to the existing discussions that are already here.

The best way is always subjective and I think you may have described what works for you best. Cheers!!

Very good point. You have started a thing which may happen,or may its happening already. This is also like a competetion,Eagarness to stand No.1 or Go hand to hand with others without any General knowledge. But we cannot stop, and only who are doing this should understand what they are loosing something and oneday or other all will come to know and will stop reponding them.I appreciate your concentration on My lot.Keep it up and all the best. There should be some one who can find out such minor defects.Once again thanks for awakening one and all.

Constant examination of the ways could help us become better and it might also help others become better so I feel that there is benefit to be gained all around. I am learning so much and it seems to me that the more I learn, the more I share and it makes everything so much better. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

There's already too much discussions started in a day,but most of it didnt attract my interest..so the best way to make out of mylot is to respond to topics that interests u.

So true, the good thing is that with the number of discussions being created everyday there are a lot which I would call interesting. I never run out of interesting topics to comment on. Cheers!!

I think the answer to that is what you widh to accomplish. If you want to make money responding only seems to be the way. If you want to have fun and be entertained while making money you gotta do both. Mix it up and have fun is what I think.

One thing that I discovered early on was that I was having a lot of fun. Then I discovered that the more I had fun, the faster the money came. I guess there is good synergy there.

There is no exact best way to do it. But you can earn more money by making more discussions which are more likely to be responded by more people. Not just starting a discussion for the sake of doing so. Thats not all. Participate in more discussions of other people, and when you write the discussions, try to be as descriptive as possible. Dont give short lame answers to discussions. Adding photos and adding descriptions can enhance the chance of making more money. Another way is by having more referrals.

It seems to me that you have covered pretty much what Mylot is all about and as I myself have seen, there are many variations that will suit a particular personal style. I should add more photos, they really brighten up a page.

I'm not sure how you define "best" way - earn most money? Have higher ratings? Feel most helpful? Have the most fun? I've found that discussions that are most meaningful for me are ones that I care about at some level. They also have at least one question that can't be answered with one work. Pictures and emoticons are fun and add to payout. It is always a gamble which topic will get the most responses. I'm sometimes really surprised by which get high volume of replies. For me I like to add to the payout but it is also very important to me that I'm useful, that I answer people's questions with interesting or helpful information. And I enjoy reading about other people's lives.

From the responses of other people I have gained a surprising insight into their lives and how they think, what things are important to them. This brings us closer, I guess. There will never be a "best" that will suit everybody, I guess.

I guess the best way to do Mylotting is when you feel the most comfortable. Either by only posting discussions, or just only responding to them. Or sometimes, it's a mix between the two. Those members with several discussions in under "1 minute" are probably newbies. Most of them anyway. But I'm thinking their discussions doesn't get the attention of other members due to lack of interesting titles or lack of depth of the entire discussion. As for me, I mostly respond to discussions. If I ever do start one, it's not too often. Maybe in a month, I'll start two or up to five discussions and that's it. But if I do start a discussion, I see to it that I respond to almost all of those who cared to comment on that topic. Based from what I've read in other discussions, copying and without giving a link to where it was copied from, is a big no-no. For sure, those who does this thing, will be immediately reported. We have members who are actively on alert for these kind of discussions. And they do report regularly.

I noticed last week there were lots of discussion with almost the same idea. And these discussions were started not only by newbies, but by old members, too. And from what I've observed, when it's near the end of the month, almost the same topic of discussions appear. And it's all about if a member has successfully reached their payout for that month.

Like you, I have observed that newbies seem to start a slew of discussions without even considering reading existing discussions. I know this to be true because I started out this way myself. When I found my discussions were not getting responses I took a closer look at how mylot works for other people and found that I don't have to start discussions in order to get into the mainstream of things.

i don't really know what's the best way to do mylot. or if there is any best way to do it. all i know is that i am enjoying myself so much here. responding to discussions and give some help to those who needs it. i don't think copying of topics are allowed. besides for me there will be no sense at all if you copy other's discussions only because you think you'll get more response as they do. i don't even know if im making the best way of mylotting?

Since somebody pointed out that there are some members who copy from Yahoo answers, I have not seem much of it. Maybe they got busted or may have learned the error of their ways. I suppose, there is a good way and a better way. The best way is always subjective and what works for one is not the only way to do it.

I prefer to respond to discussions coz i find reading people's stories is interesting. And sharing my idea or giving some advises makes me feel satified coz i may think i can help them solve their problems. But i do start discussions too.Only when i have a problem and want to listen to some advises or i am puzzled by something, i start discussions.I find some mylottes' discussion are copied from somewhere else too. It's simply can be found from the title of a discussion.I seldom respond to those discussions coz i don't think they are worthy to be responded.

I think that your way of doing mylot is a wise way and it should make your mylot experience much more fulfilling. There have been many instances when I gained very practical knowledge from reading the discussions and the responses to those discussions.

I like to start a discussion as much as I respond to discussions. And I only start a discussion on topics that interests me and I know much about that when somebody responds to it, i can have some views and ideas to share. Because I would want to exchange ideas as well as learn from the ideas of the respondents. However, since I do not have much of a luxury time to start a discussion, most of the time I just respond to topics that also interests me and got ideas to share and discuss. I wouldn't care also for the repeated topics. I only respond to one same topic and I would choose the one that has the most responses that I could read and join the discussion. And the best time to do myLot...is during your free time and you have the excitement to have a discussion with everybody. Have a great day underdogtoo!

There was a time when I would exclusively just respond to discussions because I found so many discussions that were interesting. I try to put myself in the place of those who started them and figure out what they were talking about. Amazingly, I found some cool insights that way.

That is a fair enough reason for starting a new discussion. I myself need to feel some passion about any topics that I want to start a discussion on. This way, things do not become perfunctory or automatic.

I respond to many discussions . i start discussions when i think of anything good to discuss. This is silly, copying somebody elses discussion. But it happens that when i post a discussion then a list of similar discussions comes below it. Before i started that discussion i never knew that the same discussion had been started by someone else earlier. I dint mean to copy but there would be a list of discussions on the same type. i dont know how this can be avoided

I notice the same thing whenever I start a new discussion and what I do is visit those discussions myself and see what they are saying. This gives me a much rounded view of what people are thinking.
