Beware of trojans hiding in Chinese quake news

According to a reliable source, there's an email containing official death tool which lures "unwitting surfers" to open an attachment with more news which actually triggers the PC to begin downloading trojans.

I never open attachments I don't trust, so that would be ok for me. Even when it's a mail from someone I know, I only open it, when there's a personal message attached to it, so I'll probably won't get that problem. Most of the time when I got viruses or trojans on the computer it's DH that opened something he shouldn't have. He doesn't seem to get that he has to be carefull, even with mails from 'friends'.

Same here. I am don't open attachments even from my friend's emails unless there was an earlier agreement and I have an idea what that attachment contains.

It's awful that we need to be that suspicious, but when our computer crashes 'cause of a virus we're spending so much time getting it back to work like it should. We can not risk getting one on our computers, especially not when we use them to make money and we need our time.

Absolutely. That is why I am always careful to open new mails especially if there is an attachment. Sometimes those emails are hiding in a news like this. I remember there was a time when those viruses use our friend's email address to send virus. I don't know where they get the names and addresses of my friends and it could be very deceiving.

How devilishly clever for those malicious people who are out to destroy our PC's. Thanks for the warning and I will pass this out to friends as well.

I can't seem to comprehend why they do this. What benefit do they get anyway?

I am always interested in these warnings...I take them seriously until I can prove they are a hoax..recently I received a warning on my email about such a trojan virus...but in the end that one was proved to be a falsehood!! I use www.snopes.com to check out stories for their truthfulness and these virus warnings for the same...It is good to alert people to the existance of such pitfalls...Do you have a "site" that you check them out on? Have you ever used "snopes'?

I don't have a site but I am currently receiving an internet magazine where I get all this information. I haven't used snopes but it sure would be worth trying. For one I don't open attachments even if the email was sent by a friend unless I know exactly what it is going to contain.
