All I can say is that I hope some interested pharma company would really study the herbs further to increase its reliability. Medicine men & women over the ages has been using the herbs in abortion and in healing and I believe they could really be used to be as contraceptives with enough study in its effect and dosage required. This is something really worth pursuing and since its herbal, I believe it would be healthier.

Hi Gypsy-Owl, I know what you mean by the danger of intoxicating oneself by overdose. Anything taken in excess is bad. As with the abortion thing, the site actually warns of using herbs as it would be impossible to get rid of the fetus so it's still advisable to do it in the hospital or clinics.

Owsss...that is so dangerous. One should test it under close and expert supervision. There are a lot of possibilities and who knows we might find other uses for such herbs. Careful studies must be done.

I use herbs for a lot of things but I don't think I'd use them for this. I hate taking the regular pill because of the side effects, it gives me something very similar to morning sickness and mood swings. And why be on a pill that supposed to keep me from being pregnant if it's just going to make me feel pregnant all the time? So I avoid taking the pill unless I really have to go on it. I would be willing to try something herbal if the results were better.

I also herd lemon juice could be used but since it's not an herb it is not mentioned in the site. As of now I have not been married so no need for contraceptives yet. However, due to my curiosity on pills and that I ran into this site.

I've heard of using lemon juice to stop your period but that's it.

herbal contraceptives will do the same thing to you ... thats how they work... they convince the body into thinking maybe its already pregnant so it doesnt need to ready another egg

Hello, Dian. How you've been? I think those herbs mentioned can be found anywhere in the world. Some may be isolated to one continent but still there are other local herbs that we can find in our backyard wherever we are.

In the Philippines, some women buy roots and herbal stuff to delay their period, or to start 'em up, or to abort a growing fetus inside them. Most of the time these don't work. Many still turn to the medical procedure which is illegal in my country.

This is true with herbs. It does not claim 100 percent accuracy and applicability. It may work with some people and not on others. But I just remembered a nurse friend told me about tsaang gubat which he said is not good for pregnant women.

I would not risk to rely on herbs for these kind of things. I mean, I took contraceptives when I got pregnant with my oldest son, so I'm very fertile. I would not risk getting pregnant when it's not 'convenient' because I relied on herbs that I found on the internet. And it's not that I don't 'trust' using herbs, 'cause I use it for all possible problems, I mean, if I have trouble sleeping I drink camomille or lavender tea, if I have a headache I use another herb, ... so I normally use them, I just wouldn't feel comfortable using them for this, and I don't think DH would either.

Oh, thank you for sharing your experience. I was actually expecting this kind of feedback and I'm glad you did. The site owner actually admits that it's not a hundred percent effective for everyone. But it could depend individually.

bieke i'm with you on this one.... herbs are good for most things .... but they are not as relyable on the concentration levels of the chemicals in them...

Being someone who likes natural medicine, I use and recommend many herbs. I am aware of the many uses they have in the world of herbal medicines. Basically most of the medicines a person takes in the traditional medicine world ( pharmacy) are based in the beginning on herbal potions and successes.

That's good you have a pretty good knowledge on herbs and the many uses they serve. I have known herbs as remedy for simple illnesses but was surprised to learn more like this one.
