how do u mingle with strangers?

my daughter is in first year college now and after the orientation they had, she told me about the things about her university, how is it like being there including the new classmates she has. it is kinda awkward to mingle with others because they are new faces, thats according to her. but how do u mingle and build friendship with complete strangerS?

I also had the same situation on first day of my college life.
i was not knowing any one in college.so started talking to person who was seating beside me just to build friendship.
we started with our introduction then we became very good friends in very few days.
thats how i approach.

That's right!! Start the conversation by saying hi and hello. Start building friendship with those who are new too am sure they also need a friend.

Hi There,
I think this is one of the hardest things to do for almost anyone. Even adults have a very difficult time with this. I know I do...that is for sure. The only real way to do it is to start up a conversation with people nearby. If she is in the same class with people, it means she most likely shares similar interests. Some people are naturally gifted at this type of things. People like myself really have to work at it.
