The Current Level Of Respect For Our Military

Today is the 64th anniversary of D-Day, but times have changed. On the 40th anniversary of the operation, Ronald Reagan stood on that "lonely, windswept point on the northern shore of France" and spoke of that "giant undertaking unparalleled in human history" and praised "the boys of Pointe du Hoc the heroes who helped end a war." Now a days you get responses like this. Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash., described those now serving in our armed forces as "mercenaries" and claimed "we're buying them now." This year, the anniversary of their achievement received little notice in the so-called mainstream media. Perhaps that's because it would draw uncomfortable parallels between those who stormed the coast of France in 1944 and those who are fighting now and winning a war against radical Islam.

The mainstream media is extremely biased and will not report anything that does not fit each outlet's personal agenda. Anything that puts our military in a good light will be buried on Page A52 in the newspaper and overlooked completely by most television networks so they can continue their left wing rhetoric that Bush is bad, our military is bad and we're losing the war. It sickens me that reporters and editors, who used to be responsible for reporting the news, have become commentators and will only print/show what they agree with.

You make some very good points. We are indeed winning in Iraq, and their forces are getting stronger every day.... and the terrorists are being pushed back and out. The number of terrorist attacks are down in Iraq, and things look very good. Yet the democrats want us to leave even though we are winning... now why do you suppose that is? Obama says he will pull us completely out of the Mideast and reduce our military, thus weakening our ability to defend ourselves ... that is an odd thing to do, considering the threat of attack from so many Muslim groups... why do you suppose he wants to do that? As to Rep. Jim McDermott, he doesn't have much room to talk. I seem to recall some questionable trips that he made that were paid for by Muslim groups.... Although he claims ignorance, he should have known better. As to the military being mercenaries, who does he think is defending his freedom, because it is the military and not appeasement.... it is force, not talk. The democrats hate the military, and they only care enough about our national security to occasionally give it some lip service in hopes that will be enough to satisfy everyone... It isn't.

So you think Bush lied? You are awfully ignorant of the facts, but that is right in line for what we have come to expect from the party of defeat. Event BJ Clinton claimed there was WMD's so you must be calling him a liar as well. Of course we know he is a liar, he was convicted of perjury. You need to show proof of your claims about Bush Sr. cutting the military, especially right after that Kuwait thingy... So either show your sources or shut up. I know this... Clinton bombed more countries than any other peacetime president in history, and his foreign policy is best described as cruise missile imperialism. Clinton had a bad habit of involving us in things we had no business being in, and yet you lying liberals want to go after Bush? Compared to Clinton, Bush is a pacifist. Your memory is incredibly selective.... but that is also typical of the lying left.

We know he had WMDs' because WE SUPPLIED SOME OF THEM! Not to mention the mobile labs... then there was the suppressed story about the TV crew that had to be decontaminated because they got into something. Then there is the fact that most every other nation believed he had them as well, including the UN who sent inspectors and imposed 17 sanctions against Saddam for non-compliance. So you are going to say all of those people were lying as well? So you are going to try the foolish line that there were no WMD's and you are also going to ignore the fact that the WMD's were a violation of the ceasefire the Bush Sr. had signed? You are going to ignore the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 signed by Clinton that made removal of Saddam US policy? Clinton is well liked? The current presidential race shows how false that statement is. Even a lot of the democrats hate his lying as$. What really makes it frustrating is that you lying liberals keep trotting out the same old tired arguments and fail to see the big picture... you fail to see the entire history and the events leading up to IRAQ and you fail to acknowledge that not only did many of the democrats who now claim there were no WMD's at one time said there was, and further said that removing Saddam was the only way to solve the threat. Furthermore, you are forgetting the fact that Saddam used WMD's against the Kurds on many occasions. You are also forgetting... or ignoring the satellite images of the convoy trail leading into Syria. That is most likely where they wound up... but of course the liberals don't want hear that because that then detracts from their villainization and character assassination of Bush... and we sure can't have that. As far as a reason to go to war... the ceasefire violations by Saddam was reason enough.... and no other reason was even needed. You need a reality check.

Hellooo... Satellite images showing tracks from Iraq to Syria just prior to our invasion... It was on the news everywhere! So even the most obtuse people should be able to realize that convoy tracks from Iraq into Syria had to be carrying something. Gee whiz... I wonder if it could have been the missing weapons? Any other really stupid questions?

i have often thought about this topic or related things. the current level of respect for our military is much low at least in my country China. the young people may have forgot the glorious history of our military and their traditions.
