There is a program called Mavis Beacon that can help you learn how to type properly and better and more accurately. We use it at my office to teach the students. There is another program called Typing Tutor which is also used at my office and some students like that one.

Yes I have to agree with the others, you will have to practice, and it will not happen overnight. I started at 35 wpm and currently am at 55wpm and I am still working on my speed an accuracy

Hi neifer, Five years late but welcome to you to myLot. I have searched the web and find that site offers free practice and learning techniques: http://www.typingweb.com/ Many others ask this same question so I am responding with hopes that it does help others. Best of luck to you.

practice makes it perfect.. if you have your own PC at home then no problem. type evryday then that way you'll find your fingers getting used to keyboards keyplacing. [that if you're still in a basic level]

How I wish I could type 80 words per minute too. I only type 40wpm but tha's enough for me. You can practice everyday to reach that goal.

There are several excellent typing tutors out there that will help you achieve your goal if you continue practicing. One of the best ones I've seen is Mavis Teaches Typing. It's been around for many, many, years and is extremely easy to work with and learn from. I'm sure you will achieve your goal in no time!

Many years ago, I took typing classes in school, and I never got faster than 40 words per minute... It was because I have short thick fingers... In all my years I cannot type faster by using all my fingers... I actually type faster and better by using my 2 index fingers... I already know where the keys are, so I am not lost here... I just can't reach all the keys with the usual finger placement...LOL... I also never could play guitar and piano for the same reasons...
