This topic may seem very simple, but let me tell about the abstract part of it. People say one gets habituated or addicted so not easy to quit.It is my experience that when i am away from my hometown I smoke, but never when at my hometown. Why this addiction doesn't force me to moke at my hometown,I can search many places to smoke there also. Some say one need GF or BF to have some quality time. But one can live without any GF or BF.Important thing is whole world can't live without any GF or BF. Some say one need a lot of money to enjoylife at full. But I say one can live life with less money lesser money very less money.See big corporates to beggars around you. So I say many can live without smoking but all can't.There is a virtual thing who can't make this world smoker free.I suggest one who wants to quit please dont waste your time in thinking such,Do smoke and enjoy your life. Please respond to this approach of thinking.

I Have been smoking for 10 years now. Started when i was 14. ITs a crazy and dirty habit, your teeth start to get yellowish, your nails start getting yellow as well, your hands smell... but i must admit, i'm addicted. i've been trying to quit for years, but every time, i fail. its enjoyable, but as a dancer, it really kills me. i used to be able to finish routines just trying to catch my breath a little , but now, i just pant and feel faint. i really don't know what will make me stop soon. but for now, i'm just gonna light one...

Welcome to mylot! I would have to say that nicotine is EXTREMELY addictive, however, some people for whatever reason, never become addicted to it. Perhaps it is the lack of the addictive personality, perhaps reasons I could only speculate on.

It is an addiction but it is also a habit. That is especially true if you tend to smoke in certain settings or situations more than others.

I used to smoke and i had my first puff at 16. i was more like a social smoker at first since most of my friends smoke. Then I noticed my skin is not as radiant anymore and i began to think that it may be because of smoking. So at 23 I quit and never puffed a cig anymore. My husband used to smoke 2 packs a day he quit when our son was born. I told him he cant get near our baby if he smells like smoke so he quit. He first tried nicorrettes. He chewed gum and gradually puffing a stick or 2 until he could finally go on without any. I guess most people stop because of priorities. I just like losing, quitting smoking can be achieved through discipline.

I am really happy to get your opinion, yes in real world I do accept that any bad habit can be neglected with our will power. It is also gud that u left smoking may be due to any reason. But these days my count is 9-10,lets see how long I take to quit.I am not in mood to do that too.
