i was told that braces would take care of mine totally.. my teeth shifted some and now i seem to have it back.. does braces really take it away or was it my teeth shifting again that made it come back? or does it ever go away? i feel jipped!

Well i think braces only help as long as you remember to wear the retainer for the rest of your life. I had braces and it fixed a tooth that was further back the the rest and a little sideways. While its no longer side ways it has moved back. I was told i had to wear the retainer forever to keep it from happening, but i don't listen well.

mine didnt choke me but it felt like spit was trapped in it since it was the clear kind that covered your whole mouth and teeth etc.. it just felt gross! and cleaning it drove me nutz since i felt like it never got clean enough.. and they made the flippin thing before i had my teeth sanded down so it wasnt matching my teeth in length which was ridiculous looking

I just quit wearing mine. I hated the thing. It covered the entire roof of my mouth and i would sometimes choke on it.

I don't think braces are supposed to help your jaw. I had braces and my jaw is still horrible. Every year I notice I can eat less and less types of foods. My cousin also had TMJ and finally when she couldn't even open her mouth enough to eat a grape, she had surgery. But I still can't decide if that's what I want to do, despite her telling me it was the best decision ever.

ugh after having to go get emergency surgery for my wisdom teeth and not being able to eat for over a week i wouldnt wanna go through any more mouth surgery but i guess you wouldnt want to until you are in enough pain to risk it.. why else would i have waited on my wisdom teeth?? lol

I know what you mean. I once waited until I was falling over and nearly crying from the pain of a rotted tooth root and had to go in for an emergency root canal. And the only reason I didn't wait on my wisdom teeth was because they had to come out right after the braces were off.

Please refer back to your orthodontist about this. You should have received a retainer to wear to prevent your teeth from shifting back. It takes awhile for the root of the tooth to become sound in the bone. A retainer is a clear prosthetic that you wear continually for a length of time. You doctor should be able to explain why he didn't do this and what you can do about the shifting. I would definitely have a serious talk with that doctor.
