A small gift that shows a thought can bring so much pleasure.

One of the pictures that was on a tea towel - This is one of the main attractions at Blackpool, on a tea towel I bought there was a picture of this tower in the middle of the towel. This picture is my own that I took, it is Blackpool tower and you can travel right to the top of it.

I went away for a holiday and decided to buy a few gifts to bring back. There was not a lot in the place that I went, most of it was what I call tat. Useless cheap trinkets and so it was really hard to find anything much. I managed to find my Gran a tea towel, it had pictures of the place I went to on it and some of the main attractions on it. It did not cost much but it was quite pretty. I posted it to her and she was absolutely over joyed with it, she was really pleased that I had spared her a thought while on holiday enough to fetch her a gift. She also collects tea towels, which I did not know and so was really pleased to have a new addition to her collection saying that she would love to put it on her wall. It was so sweet. Who would think that a little gift like that could bring so much pleasure and it is such a nice feeling to know that I made my Grans day! What is the last gift that you bought anyone just for no reason that the person was absolutely thrilled with? Do you often buy gifts for no reason or do you just wait for birthdays and christmas?

I have never heard of a tea towel, but it is good that it made her so happy. :) Sometimes if I am out shopping, and I see something that I know would put a smile on a friend's face, I buy it. Usually I wait until a holiday or birthday to give it to them, unless is far away. This is due mostly to lack of funds.

A tea towel is a small towel about the size of a bathroom hand towel but thinner. It is used to wipe the plates and things up after they have been washed.

I give gifts to friends and relatives only during special occasions. But, for my parents, sister and husband, I love to give gifts even if there is no occasion. It's truly wonderful to make them happy even with the simple present that we have. That's cool for you gemini, you had a great timing for your Gran..LOL! I mean, it was something that she also collects!

Every time we travel we usually pick up a few souvenirs for a few friends a family members. Usually small ornament type items.

I bought a bunch of flowers for my neighbour yesterday as she is now at home recovering from an operation and the flowers she intially received from people in hospital were past there best and she was overjoyed with them as people usually rally round the first few days and then not much at all so the fact that I was still thinking of her and took flowers round made a difference to her day too, just like your t-towel did with your Gran. It is a lovely feeling to cheer someone up with an unexpected gift or gesture isn't it. Ellie :D

They are the best gifts to give or receive, because the person has not had to buy it, they have done it just because they have thought of them. Not because it is a persons birthday and expected.

im a gift giver.. i dont need an occaision. if i see something that reminds me of someone i care for.. i buy it. sometimes i will wind up saving it for either their birthday or whatever.. sometimes i cant hold my water and give them a gift purchased for a special occaision on a non special occaision day. last gift i bought, and still havent given it yet, is a magnet for yer fridge with the save toby logo on it. its for my brother.. and he is due to visit in a few weeks and im going to give it to him when he gets here.

it is so kind and thoughtful of you to be thinking of your grandma... i'm sure she is very delighted with your gift... i will as well... whenever somebody gives me a gift, i never see the value... it is the thought that counts and i am really grateful... i also try to give my friends and family a gift whenever i go on a holiday... it might be just a postcard or calendar, t-shirt, pen, etc... but they are really happy about that... it doesn't have to be expensive... again, it is the thought that counts... take care and have a nice day...

hi gemini rose. I boughte my son the latest Stephen King book and he was overjoyed as King is his favorite author. I am on a very limited budget so do not buy many gifts at all just for birthdays and Christmas instead and with much love too.

One of my friends never, ever buys gifts for others when she's on vacation. Others do have that habit. I like to do it as well, when possible. Although I have to admit that it's not always easy. But I do make a point of at least sending a postcard so peeps know I thought about them. And that's the most important thing.
