Anyone here still training in muay thai? I took it for 3 month I was in L.A. & just fell in love with the sport... But now I can't seem to find a place to keep on training here in PA... Any suggestions on how I could even train on my own?

lol... I hear ya... My mom doesn't think boxing or any type of contact sport that requires "beating the h*LL out of each other till somebody gets knocked out" as a sport either... For that matter, she holds the same opinion on bunch of grown men chasing after pig skin balls, football, basketball, etc, etc... Muay Thai is basically different version of kickboxing... Originated from Thailand, as the name suggests... Main difference being that in Muay Thai, you are allowed to use your ellbows & knees to strike your opponent... In the old days, even the head-butting was allowed... Sounds brutal & at times it can be but if done in good sportsmanship, it's a beautiful sport... Rituals involved before the fight, can't remember the name of it but there's a dancing ritual involved, which was also done at the end by the winner...

definetely it is one of the best and most strongest art on the world,i heard that the train of it is very cruel ang do no good 2 health, just think abt it:one who learn the art has 2 punch or kick the tree again and again all day long 2 keep their arms, fists n legs as hard as the stone 2 insure they could win when fight,so f wanna learn that, you re supposed to find a way which is more better 2 our health ps:do you like bokaw or tony jaa, they are both good master of the art

I generally don't follow the people in the sport. I know jaa made few movies & buakaw has won a lot of competitions. My reason behind taking Muay Thai was more for the art in itself & health issues. I do understand about the training process. The aspect of using all of the body parts, knees, elbows, fists, legs, & even the correct way to headbutt somebody doesn't really seem to relate to any type of "art" form but I found the fluent but long & harsh movements to be very interesting. It does require a lot of strength & I know I'm no where near being "good" at it but again, I'd like to know more about it & start picking up where I left off.
