Hi everyone!I would like to share my experience of studying nursing in Australia.I've already completed my bachelors course in BioInformatics and I love to study anything related to Biology.I never thought to become a nurse before but anyway thats a long story to write here. From the day I started my studies in nursing, I felt this was not going right somewhere. In India, the city where I lived in, Nurses were not given much importance but here in Australia, the case is different. Everyone respects the Nurses and they play a major role in hospitals and other health care settings. In a way I'm satisfied that it's a medical field and the pay scale is good enough as compared to the other fields. But when I started working as an assistant Nurse, I realized that the duties of nurse involves everything including showering, toileting and cleaning their bottom which are sometime really gross and stinks like hell! First day of my work while taking the dirty pads off the patient and cleaning the bottom, I threw up in the bathroom as I found it really gross and could not bear the foul smell! I thought I had no right to be a nurse if I could not fulfill this duty of care. It's been a year now since m doing the same work, and even today I get the same feeling. But on the other hand, this is not the only work that nurses do. I like giving injections, taking blood pressure, pulse and respiration. But if I was given a choice between a doctor and a nurse, I would definitely opt to become a doctor, it being more interesting and respecting field than Nursing according to me.

Many of my friends are nurses in the United States. I must say that they do get paid very well. They all say that they love working in a doctor's office more than at a hospital because of the hours they work. I would love to be a nurse and help people, but I have a weak stomach. That's why I decided to become a teacher. I'm really good at it. It's good that you were able to overcome this and still be good at your career. I wish you well on becoming a doctor.....we always need more of those.
