Potato Bugs - Ninos De La Tierra - Jerusalem Cricket - NASTY!

Does anyone know what potato bugs or Ninos De La Tierra are? I remember being a little kid and digging a hole in the back yard and there was this creepy, disgusting, wet, slimy gross looking bug in the hole. I thought it was a scorpion or something at first, but it didn't have any stingers. It was fleshing looking, rust or orangey-brown and shiny. It's head looked almost human - the features. Oh it gives me the creeps just thinking about it. It is one of the creepiest bugs I have ever seen. Have any of you ever encountered one of these things? How do you kill it?Thanks for your input and comments!:D
