Cat dialled the wrong number

For nearly three nights in a row, the cats wrecked my beauty sleep.
I keep the phone on my table, and I hardly use the thing to make calls. It exists because I require the Internet connection. I have examined it thoroughly and can't even find an on/off button, which means it is on for 24X7.
Now, I don't know what my cats do to it. For nearly three nights in a row, I have been awakened by a buzzing sound, followed by a few beeps, and a female voice saying, "This is an invalid number. Please check the number you have dialled." And when I have dragged my unwilling, half-sleepy self to the phone, I see my cats there, sitting serenely near the phone, staring at it. I simply don't understand what they do with that phone.
Have your cats taken a fancy to anything in your house, such as the phone?

sorry about your loss of sleep. that is a rude way to wake up. we have a cat molly who knocked the phone off the receiver and stepped on the re-dial button. we didn't know who she called until a friend said she got a strange call. she answered the phone and said hello but no one answered back. she kept hearing strange sounds on the other end and kept saying hello . but again no answer so she hung up. then my sister told her it was our cat. we had a good laugh.

my last cat, had a thing with my sons legos. this has been years ago, when he was 10yrs. he (the cat)would throw them all over the place. first time, my son put them up where he thought the cat wouldnt lose them all over, but cupid found them and put them everywhere again. every time he'd hide them our cat would find them and throw them around.

Ours has a function where you can dial numbers with the handset down, and also has a memory. A dangerous combination where you have cats who like to dance on it.
Unbelievably, they managed to call the emergency vet once. We think they were calling to request rehoming!

That is too cute. My cats never did anything like that but they did do cute things. I think this by all means beats anything. Cats really cease to amaze me. Thank you for sharing.

Your cats probably walk on your phone, same way my cats do. In my case they do it right before my very eyes. They walk all over the phone and even the pc keyboard. I had one, bless him, who would even attempt to lie down on the keyboard while I was using it.

Awww that is too funny! Probably not for you in the middle of the night, but it is for us to read about! My cat is old, he don't really get into to much anymore, he is kinda of lazy and just likes to cuddle or chase leaves about.

funny Incident.. Luckily the number that your cat dialled does not exist.. had it been there..it would have costed you two things.. a bad reputation.. and a hefty bill.

Our cat has not walked on the telephone or pushed any buttons on it yet! Our phones are out of reach and push button only types, cordless! I do know about losing sleep when awakened by the cat! It happens when I hear the cat meowing, when it wants to go outside!

My girls will try to help me type. If they want attention they start typing too, that or stick their face in mine. Also my Lucy sleeps on my tower, my hubby jokes that she's still looking for the computer mouse that everyone's talking about.

Wow, what a smart cat. I dont have any cats nor have any cats done something cool like dial a number but when my brother was younger, Im going to say 4, I was being mean to him and he call 911 on me hahahahaha! The police came and understood but thats one of the funniest things he has ever done.

No but my cat likes to step on the remote and change the shows I am watching. She also likes to sleep in our bed, but for some reason she curls up on my pillow, so I have no place to lay my head!

LOL, my two cats spread all over my bed. I suppose they want me to snuggle in their cat basket.
