Notable Passings This Week

This has been a week of the deaths of several notable people-namely actor Mel Ferrer, blues singer Bo Diddley, and just yesterday sports announcer Jim McKay. All of them contributed much to our lives in their own way and will be missed. Why is it that deaths always seem to come in threes as I've heard for most of my life? Do you believe this or do you think it is just a coincidence?

I had heard about Bo Diddley worldwise but I'm not sure about the other 2! I know it seems like it always comes in 3's but I think that a lot of that is because we reinforce that when we hear of 3 deaths at once but don't think of it when we hear of one person dying or 2 or 4 . Thats the way I see it anyway! xxx

What you say could possibly be true, mummymo, and we do tend to give credence to those things with which we've been accustomed.

I wonder why deaths always seem to come in threes too. It happened to me since January of this year and I'm still trying to figure it out. I feel so bad about Bo Diddley and especially Harvey Korman who I spent so many years watching and enjoying on the Carole Burnett show.

I'm afraid we'll never know the when's and wherefore's in these situations, ctry, but it is still sad just the same when the beloved people who have entertained us or enriched our lives in some way have to leave us.

As long as I can remember its always happened that way. In 1985 we lost my great-aunt in March,my dad in April and my grandmother in October. In 2006 we lost my father inlaw in Febuary,2 close friends in 1-March and 1-April. These are a couple I can remember.
