With national gas average at $4.00 a gallon I am wondering how those of you who work minimum wage are making it. I am one who lost her job over a year ago, but even at $11.00 an hour I know that paying that price at the pump would be too much and would be forced to quit or get fired. Would like to hear from those who are on minimum wage, how are you making it.

Hi here Great question! I am in the UK and things here are just as bad. I'm not sure what the latest in fuel prices here is - perhaps someone can tell us?, but it is bad and after the price hikes in the US over the weekend, it will be worse for us too. I don't know how the bods here are making it either! My husband earns really well and we are battling so heaven only knows what the people who are on minimum wage are doing - it must be really scary for them. Violetdreamslingerie

Thanks for responding and I have read that the UK is suffering about the same as we are, I wouldn't wish this on no one. I am also lucky, my husband makes good money too, but with the constant rising prices for everything, it is getting harder and harder to cut-back. I worry now and just can't amagine working for minimum wage and having to find ways to cut-back. My Mom tells me there is nothing anyone can do but just go with the flow. I keep that thought in the back of my mind, evertime I have to find ways to cut-back. So hang in there, thats all we can do. Thanks, again Karen

Not quite minimum, but I make $9.50 per hour and the price of gas is a pretty big issue for me. It just jumped from $3.95 to $4.19 overnight here. I switched out my car to get something a little more fuel efficient and just have to cut out some of my leisure activities.....sucks, but have to do it until I become a permanent employee at my job and jump to $13.36 per hour.

Thanks for responding, and good luck to you as well. I have done alot of cutting back and it seems the more I do the more I have to keep trying. I read today that the G-8 (I assume it stands for the great 8 nations: U.S. China, Japan, and so on) are in talks since the oil crisis is now becoming a global problem. Hopefully they will be able to find a solution and prices will atleast stay at a stand still. Thanks, again and Good luck with the job Karen
