What's your best tip for growing long, beautiful nails? Do you bite your nails when you get nervous? Sometimes, I bite my nails when I feel nervous or upset. Most times, I get anxious and bite off a years worth of nail growth! So, I try not to get nervous. I've found that posting on Mylot or blogging helps me channel some of that nervous energy. That's my best tip for growing long beautiful nails. Plus, I take a good multi-vitamin daily. I used to have the longest nails when I was pregnant and took my prenatal vitamin. Nail biting is simply a compulsion or way of dealing with unresolved emotions or stress. You have to deal with the stress and not the action of nail biting. My other tip for nail biters, would be to find a creative or emotional outlet like a hobby that keeps your hands busy. What's your best tip?

I've never been much of a nail biter. But I do have a way to deal with unresolved emotions or stress. I either write in a journal (my favorite) or I clean house or organize something that has been bugging me.(like my sock drawer, hehe) I have thick, strong nails but I remember them being even healthier and prettier when I was pregnant as well. My hair even had a special luster to it. I loved being pregnant.

I thought that I was the only one who enjoyed pregnancy! We are a rare few. I had those great pregnancy nails too! I think it was my prenatals. They have tons of goodies in them. Plus, iron and such. I don't take vitamins like I should. My nails would be much stronger.

I only ever bite my finger nails off if I break one of them or if they are getting too long and bugging me and I do not have any clippers nearby. My nails grow really fast. I was told once that tapping your fingernails on the table top helps to stimulate nail growth and makes them grow faster. I am not sure how much truth there is in that though.

That's a good tip! I had not tried that. Maybe it's related to blood flow or something. I'll try that tip. Another thing that makes nails split is laundry detergent. It strips the oils out of nails and makes them brittle. I've found that to be true, in my case. Thanks for the tip.

I don't bite my nails and never have. But I do know a lot of people who do bite theirs, including my daughter. She started biting her nails when she was very young and now at 25 years old, she still does. I tried everything when she was a child, to get her to stop but nothing worked. I guess some habits can never be broken! I have always had nice nails and I always took care of them. But now I am working cleaning houses so my hands are always in water, so that makes my nails really thin and they break very easily. I mean, they aren't terribly bad but they aren't as nice as they used to be. Sometimes I wish I had better nails again and I try to take care of them to get them nice again. I put nail polish on them often because that makes them stronger when I have my hands in the water. but then the nail polish comes off and I have to do them again the next evening. So it is a bit much work sometimes and I don't do them every day.

I don't bite my nails at all. When I am nervous, I kept on walking around until I feel tired and had to sit then walk again. its difficult to grow long nails for me because I get irritated with a very slow grow but I grew them anyway. I put nail polish to make it strong. Before I changed it with different colors but now white or colorless will do. Take care =)

If I get nervous, I tend to chew on one finger nail. It's my pinky. Doesn't happen all the time. It's just a once in a while thing. Mostly I am too busy with my daughter. That occupies my thoughts. So my pinky nail gets saved most of the time. lol

i have never been a nail biter because i like my nails to grow but i never seem to have 10 beautiful, long nails all at once. a few always break and i do not have the time or money for manicures. my son bites his nails and the skin around them and it drives me nuts and i keep telling him to stop. i think it may be bit of a nervous habit in his case.

The best tips for growing nails would probably be a fortnightly visit to the salon for a manicure. It's really hard to grow long nails properly. And biting your nails is not of any help. ;) Luckily, I bite my lips when I'm nervous.

My nails seem to always break off at the base of the nail on the side. They have always done this even when I was pregnant. So I do not know why they are weak there, they just are. So when they start to tear I usually end up ripping them off and then filing them down. I hate to havea rough spot on the nail that can snag on something. That is one of my pet peeves. I seem to keep longer nails when I have a nail file and I can smooth them down quickly.

Yes, i bite my nails when i get nervous or upset. I used to bite my nails all the time when i was young. When am feeling bored, i bite my nails. When am feeling nervous i bite my nails. And am starting to stop from biting my nails when all my gf's show me their fingers. They say their finger is pretty because they don't bite their nails. And they said they don't like biting it. And from that moment, i told myself 'stop biting your fingers ieeko if you want to have a pretty fingernails ! ' And now i don't bite my nails like i used before. For necessary only, like nervous and all. But whatever it is, i still bite my nails :PP And yeah, i think tapping your fingers could help it grows faster.

If you can't control it in any other way then better bite a pencil than nails.

I grew my nails 2 months ago & was so happy with them & then i had a dentist appointment & oops there went the nails! When I want to try & grow them again I paint them because if they are painted that influences me not to bite them, but to be able to paint them I need them to have a bit of length, so I buy loads of false nail sets & keep renewing them when they need it - so it doesnt give me a chance to bite them, I find I can grow them quite long if I do if for long enough lol =)
